The hotel was adequate with a nice lobby, but the hotel is located between two large strip clubs, which is very inappropriate for families. The curtains didn’t close properly and our window was against someone else’s balcony.

It has really good qualities and some downsides.
The hotel lobby is gorgeous and has a great vibe. However, our room was not what we expected for the 4 star property, it was average, there was no fitted sheet or mattress protector and there crumbs and hair on the mattress so had to sleep above the sheets. The room had an odd musty smell that went away with the a/c, which worked great and was nice to have on such warm days. The room was smaller than what we intendedly booked but small room was not much of an issue. The hotel breakfast was included in our stay and was hands down one of the BEST hotel provided breakfasts we’ve ever had.

    Room was not finished.
I booked the Athenaeum Grand Hotel and was switched to the Athenaeum Palace & Luxury Suites when I arrived, which is across the street. It was clear this hotel was new and hastily finished to meet the demands for the tourist season this summer. My room was not finished; the walls had only one coat of primer paint, wires were exposed in the bathroom near the sink and shower, and the carpet in the hallway was temporary patch carpet. Also, the door into the bathroom with the shower couldn't open all the way since it hit the sink. All the finishing touches were missing or hastily done. I would not stay here again.

Beware- rooms with no window and noisy!!!!
Changed us to the new Majestic hotel - a bit further - Location not so good - need a cab to center. No windows, noisy, big comfortable room without internet connections, wi-fi works only in lobby. Phone in room not working (try to call reception....). Need to ask for bath towels or soap - Service not consistent . Breakfast was great.

So here is the thing: there is nothing really WRONG with the hotel itself. The decor is clean and modern and the rooms, while sparsely decorated, were clean and serviceable. They offered a decent free breakfast every morning. The location, however, is terrible. It is off of a major road, interspersed with strip clubs. We basically had a day and a half in Athens and for the most part, we booked this hotel because of its low price and free shuttle to the Acropolis, which we weren't even able to take advantage of. If I could do it again, I would try to book something in the Plaka district.
