Some Pros, Some Cons
We stayed at the Heliotrope for the first time recently - it was our first night staying in Bellingham actually.
Pros:
1) Location was cool, only about a mile from some bars, music venues, and restaurants.
2) Cody at the front desk was awesome. Great service, super nice, had some good recommendations for restaurants/bars.
3) They gave us a free room upgrade when we got there which was nice.
Cons:
1) We didn’t know there was an extra incidentals fee of $75 until we were checking in at the front desk. For people on a tight budget, that would be very bad. Still waiting on that to get reversed.
2) Our room wasn’t in great condition. Our remote for our heater didn’t work, Cody had to get us a new one so that was fixed pretty quickly. Some of the outlets didn’t work, and this was the first place we’ve ever stayed at that didn’t have a microwave in the room.
3) The front office was supposed to be open 24/7 but we tried to go get some ice at like 11pm and it was locked.
Overall, we might consider staying here again, but we’ll most likely check out other hotels in the area when we return.
