Perfect fit small hotel for Chambord
Relais de Chambord is well appointed, attractive, the room small and compact but very comfortable with updated interior. The restaurant a treat to dine in, the food equal to the majesty of the Chateau location. All in all I liked the small size and relaxing feel. The room was quiet generally, but some noise from overlooking the gravel drive and entrance area where deliveries are made during the day. I liked the billiard room is a nice touch, and the spa amenities. It almost feels like you're part of the Chateau's domain. The hotel does not compete architecturally with the grandeur of the Chateau appropriately but serves it well with its understated subdued elegance. The bike rental was very convenient for exploring the woods and paths around the domain and spotting deer in the viewing hides placed around the domain. I found the staff to be cordial and quite helpful throughout my stay. This one will be a do again.

Dine al fresco in full view of chateau de Chambord
My second time bringing friends here from the US. Best location EVER! Sit outside on the patio for a meal in full view of Chambord, my favorite of all the French Lore Valley chateaux.

The location can’t be beat. Right in front of the castle. However, when we checked in, they assigned us to a basic room when we had pre-paid for a suite. We went back down to the front desk to address the issue (the difference in cost was >200$, which we had already paid). They did remedy the situation, but made us feel like we had inconvenienced them just to get what we had pod for. Otherwise the new room was beautiful with a great view. No A/C, so watch out for that in summer months.

Superb accomodations. The food at dinner and breakfast was delicious. I look forward to returning. On the negative side, the telephone in the room did not work properly. I could not call outside the hotel. The front desk tried to say it did not allow overseas calls, but I could not dial local calls either. Although I reported the problem, the problem persisted for 2 days and was not resolved by the time I left. Also, at dinner our waiter left us for a very long time.He finally came back to clear our plates. We ordered coffee and dessert and received the dessert promptly, but the coffee was served much much later. I would have preferred to have my coffee with my dessert. The waiter said he was in a meeting with the boss and that is why he disappeared so long. I don't believe him. Lastly, the TV in room has option for English language but, like the telephone, it, too, doesn't work.
