Wonderful place to stay
The ryokan is very centrally located, near the Kyoto station, yet it's on a small side street so very private. The room was spotless - I did have to adjust to living on the floor, but I had everything I needed. The baths were lovely and private and the breakfast was delicious. The staff was delightful and helpful, so I found the whole experience very enjoyable - you will get a real taste of Japanese life and culture.

Quiet and cozy ryokan
Our stay at Toshiharu Ryokan was perfect. We were in the Satsuki room, which was more than large enough for a couple and had a private balcony with garden. While the room and garden face the street, the ryokan is on a very quiet side street and we did not hear any noise during our stay, at any hour. Our okami and all the ryokan staff were kind and generous and made sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Very good
It was a lovely old Machiya that has been modernised, I was not that happy having to try to book a time slot to use the Japanese bath which was fully booked.

The garden is Japanese style, which is extremely beatiful. The location is very convenient. There are grocery stores nearby, and it takes only 5min walk to subway station. The staffs are nice and helpful. I recommend to have the Japanese style shower and the Japanese style breakfast!

Classic Japanese hospitality
Toshiharu is a great place to stay, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Beautiful old house with lovely garden spaces. Great Japanese bath with an amazing wood tub to soak in. Breakfast is a great home cooked Japanese meal. They were helpful with dinner a museum reservations. I really loved my stay and would return again.

A perfect end to our trip
My husband and I finished our trip to Japan with 2 nights at this lovely inn. Hosts were gracious, the traditional-style room was very comfortable and cozy, and the shared baths were a welcome treat after long days of sightseeing. We are so happy to wind down from our non-stop experiences in Tokyo and Kyoto by treating ourselves to a quiet few nights before heading home. Arigatou Gozaimashita!
