it wasn't not the place in the picture at all. There's only one bathroom for 10 rooms

This is not the Hilton or the Ritz. it's a VERY modest hotel on the 3rd floor of an old building. BUT it has 5-star human beings running it, and a 5-star view of Tahrir Square + the Egyptian Museum (a MUST to visit). I rate this place highly (despite the funky elevator and some other issues) because it is fairly priced and, again, because of the nice, kind people who are running it and trying to make a better life for their little son. Ahmed was also extremely helpful in recommending a cheap local take-out restaurant, and even in getting up at 4:00 AM to make sure I'd make my flight.

Good 6.0
I stayed two nights at the hotel and mostly found it to be ok. But there were disappointments. It is on a very busy corner street, but I had earplugs and wasn't bothered by it. Breakfast was the usual minimal bread, jam and a boiled egg. Mind you on the second day I asked for only coffee at 6:45 before leaving. It had been agreed upon the day before, but when I left my room there was nobody awake. The owner Ahmed is a very nice fellow, but his best intentions in providing booking assistance for a desert trip I wanted to do fell short of the mark, and at the very last moment I had to organise the trip myself and had to pay more than I should have. Having said that I would still happily stay here again, but I wouldn't rely on any tourist assistance.

Exceptional 10.0
A tiered and worn but characterful period gem.
We had an excellent stay at the Museum House. The location is really quite superb - although bear in mind the proximity of Tahrir Square and associated traffic noise. Personally in many ways I found this an added attraction, especially watching the chaos from the bedroom balcony in the mornings. The building is as creaky and quirky as I had hoped and the staff genuinely friendly, welcoming and helpful. I will stay again.
