Great Hotel
The hotel was in excellent location. Right by the train station. The rooms were very spacious by Japanese standards. The staff was very helpful but only spoke minimal English. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very near train station; beware of double charge!
Hotels.com charged the cost of the entire stay to my credit card when I booked this room for 2 nights, but I just realized that the hotel also charged me for 2 nights so I am paying twice for the same room! Please be careful as I don't know whether it was Hotels.com or this hotel that has charged me when it is not supposed to. I am going to dispute the duplicate charge.

Good value
Big hotel room by Japanese standards, especially as I'm writing this in the tiny room in a Tokyo hotel that I'm paying twice as much for. I hope to stay here again next year for a conference. Breakfast was good, check in could have have been earlier but this is just standard for Japanese hotels.

Good value? I think not.
It's not easy to find good-value accommodation in Kokura. I found this hotel decidedly overpriced, given its overall tired condition, the rather small room (I live in Japan, so I know what to expect) and the meagre breakfast. Two things bugged me in particular: the poorly equipped room (having to call reception for a second tea cup, not enough power plugs, low-quality towels) and the fact that they stopped restocking the breakfast buffet at 9 am, when the last order cut-off time was supposedly 9:30 am. On the positive side: immaculately clean (very nice cleaning staff on 10th floor) and a good hard bed.
