Great location. Very clean and comfortable. The shower was great (I have a thing about showers). The breakfast was very good with a good assortment of food. Everyone who worked there was very friendly, efficient and informative. Would stay there again!!

Absolutely amazing
This is one of the coolest, most comfortable, and most interesting hotels I have stayed in, ever. If you're traveling in or near the Netherlands, you should plan a night or two in Leyden purely to stay in this hotel.

Very Good8.0
This hotel is in a nice location and our room overlooked the canals. There is no front desk service like at a typical hotel but the staff were very attentive when we had issues (our key wouldn't work at our room when we returned at midnight) and arrived within 15 minutes to fix the problem. There is no air conditioning in the room but there was a fan placed behind a chair if needed. The toiletries include shampoo and body wash but no conditioner so make sure to bring your own if needed. We also had an issue with a misplaced item but this was easily cleared up when we called the hotel staff to locate the item. They also can arrange airport transfer for 40 euros, which is convenient. The only issue that I'd comment on is that the hallway is quite noisy and there is not much sound proofing between the room and the hallway. Overall, would rate this as a nice spot and would consider staying again for a future trip.

Quaint inn near airport
Lovely inn in baroque style.Spacious, clean, well appointed. On the edge of city center, so short walk to restaurants and shops. Great option to stay near airport. Note: on street parking takes ONLY MASTERCARD, no visa or amex.

Beautiful, comfortable and in good location
I've been in Leiden before but this time came for a meeting. It was my first time actually staying in Leiden. The Barones van Leyden is more like a nice guest house. The owners have two different properties in Leiden. The Barones is on a corner, on a canal and a pictureque 10 minute walk along canals to Peterskirche, which I would call the absolute center of the old city. There is also a good restaurant just around the corner called Lot en de Walwig that I recommend. The room was beautiful with original 17th century rafters, very modern and spacious bathroom, comfortable bedding and good light. The downstairs dining room is elegant but comfy, and breakfast is ample, providing fresh eggs, french toast, etc. in addition to a large assortment of meats, cheeses, fruit, breads, pastries, granola, yogurt, etc. They serve great espresso, too. Loved the breakfasts. A perfect place to stay in Leiden or even while visiting Amsterdam if you like something a bit more quiet. Amsterdam is great, but it has become super crowded. Leiden is a nice refresher. If this is a new visit for you to Holland, also be sure to visit Maastricht if your schedule allows. Oh yes, good wifi at the hotel as well, and they have a well-priced driver service to take you to the train station, airport, etc.
