Hotel Palazzo Grillo, Genoa
Modern Luxury with Medieval Flare!
If you want to stay in the "Centro Storico" in Genoa, and two blocks away from the "Porto Antico", this is the place to stay. Building is amazing and has been beautifully renovated into a great hotel. I have stayed in two rooms and both were fantastic. The staff is young and very helpful.Sleeping with the windows open

Home Away in a Modern Palazzo
The staff was fantastic and friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. The hotel is unique, as it is housed in a historic building. They have managed to superimpose the antiquity with a modern theme that is surprisingly natural. My only recommendation is to arrive when it still light outside. I went well after sunset and finding it was a challenge, but well worth it. When I woke up I found the location to be right in the middle of everything, and if you like to feel a part of the location, you will be very happy

Very Good8.0
Stayed for a short break out of season. Hotel is about 15 minutes by foot from the Principe station, but there's no direct car access - if your taxi drops you at the nearest square, it's about a 200 meter walk. Our room was overlooking the courtyard. Room is quite spacious and clean, although not carpeted - hard concrete floor. No wardrobe but rather a frame with hangers. Bathroom was clean and quite modern. Only annoying thing was the air-con fan in the bathroom which was permanently on until 11pm. The courtyard was generally quiet at night although on Saturday it was loud until the early hours of the morning. Staff are very helpful and friendly, giving us directions and calling us a cab when we left and providing some help finding restaurants etc. Note - the surrounding area of the hotel is right in the old city. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and the harbour is a short 5 minute walk away, and the cathedrals, market and museums are not far away. The old city has dozens of tiny alleys and streets which are not especially well lit; If you're at all claustrophobic or not happy walking on your own around there, you might not enjoy it too much. If you're staying in Genoa, this is a good hotel and I'd recommend it.
