Great location, not so great everything else
We loved the old building and downtown area! We went to college here and know the town very well. The staff seemed to not be communicating well on what we as guests could and could not do around the property due to new winter hours. We went on Veterans Day and didn’t know that particular holiday would affect the hours of their bars in the hotel. Only one bar was open out of the three there. The beds didn’t have enough blankets considering the 18 degree temperatures outside and they weren’t comfortable at all. Also beware, there are no actual showers, just tubs with a shower hose. We know of other great hotels downtown but wanted to give this one a shot, as we’d never stayed here before. Sadly, I don’t think we’ll be back here again.

Perfect location. However, very disappointed overall. No shower in the room, only a bathtub. We had an issue with the doorman, who after returning to the room a little after midnight had the doors to the hotel locked. Im assuming the Fire Marshall wouldn’t agree with that decision!

Something different
Not for those looking for luxury accommodations, but if you like history and are a fan of old buildings and interesting architechure, this may be your place. With a bar on all three floors and a friendly staff you don't have far to go for a drink or meal.

Don't stay here if you want to sleep
While the Weatherford offers a lovely, historic room with two chairs, it seriously lacks the ability to provide a quiet haven for its guests. I thought we'd enjoy the hotel because of its downtown location, but I should've taken my clue from the ear plugs it provides in the room and walked back downstairs to check out. There is absolutely no insulation from the loud noise emanating from the basement bar. While my husband couldn't get to sleep until the music stopped pounding (perhaps 2 a.m.?), I at least got a few hours of sleep, walking at midnight to the clamor. Other drawbacks: a charming, claw-foot tub that felt as if it would fall through the ceiling because it wobbled with each shift in weight and with no bar to get out and no place to put the soap and shampoo if one showered rather than bathed. When I complained about the noise the next morning, I was told that warnings appeared in the online description and in the written description I was given upon checking in. I re-read the latter, one-page description, and there was no such warning. With my experience, I hope they advise future guests as they check in so that they are given the chance to back out. No one should have to suffer such noise if it is unanticipated. It would likely be a great place to sleep if you want to party downstairs and fall into bed with sheer exhaustion at the very end of the night/beginning of morning. To add insult to injury, it was, by far, the most expensive hotel on our vacation.
