A taste of authentic Mumbai street life..
Helpful and friendly staff made this Mumbai hostel experience an excellent one. It is situated in an area that really throws you into India head first with a strange but typical mixture of slums, bazaars and modern convenience all at hand. Outside the front door you will learn firsthand how to cross frenetic streets full of honking tuk tuks and navigate hazardous sidewalks full of goats, greasy mechanics shops, and vibrant street life.
While this is not what you would call a hostel for novice backpackers, those who already have asian experience will appreciate it's truly authentic urban charms.
There is a tasty on-the-run Indian breakfast provided each morning along with good chai. You will meet a constant flow of international backpackers who generally don't stay too long but have a few days of mumbai experience and are willing to help you out. Its a very good place to find like-minded roadsters with whom to travel or share some city adventures.
The location of this hostel is fairly close to the airport making a good choice for those on their way out of the country. However, others may feel it makes travelling to more touristy sights on the south side of town challenging. For those wishing to get around the city cheaply it is an interesting fifteen minute walk to the train station where the brave can master the moshpit adventures of rush hour Mumbai transit. No faster way to get around but not for the faint of heart!
