Excellent quality hotel
We stayed one night and had breakfast. The accommodation was clean and attractive - everything worked and the room was warm and cozy ! Breakfast was excellent and freshly prepared for us. We had a quick wander around the village before we left as it is very pretty.

Great hotel, but the food and staff really shine
We only stayed at The Walnut Tree for one night to break up a long drive, which happily also gave us the chance to stop in at Stourhead National Trust nearby. There are really only three things I ask of hotels given that I spend so much time in them for work (though this particular stay was for pleasure) - that they're clean, comfortable and quiet - and I'm pleased to say that The Walnut Tree delivers on each. The staff and the food, however, are where The Walnut Tree really stands out. From the moment we walked in the door to the minute we left, the staff were kind, caring, helpful, interested... everybody treated us like we were the most important guests the hotel had ever had. We also chose to eat in the hotel's restaurant, which turned out to be exceptional. The standard of food isn't quite fine dining, but it's not far off. Imagine if fine dining was allowed to wear chinos to work. It's the smart casual of fine dining, without any of the formality. Three courses and a couple of drinks each cost us £80, but every course was fantastic. The chef really knows what they're doing!

Visit to Yeovil
It was very near The Haynes Motor Museum and a good base for visiting Street Outlet Shopping the location was rural in a very quiet village.
