Good little get away!
We stayed here for a concert. The room was very nice and clean. Loved the decor! Hotel was small but very cute! Friendly people and a great location! Only thing I have to say it the lake view want the best with the construction going on. We would stay there again

A bad taste in our mouth.
We just felt like maybe they were waiting for somebody else. The candy bar, chips, & all the amenities were way over priced. The rooms were thin, we could hear the people in the next room. We didn't eat at the restaurant or go to the Bar. The room was large with a big bathroom . The shower was huge. It was a comfortable room and once the TV got turned on we were fine with it. We can handle being treated like an alien just didn't expect it. Over all I can say we sure won't be back or be telling anyone of our coaster loving friends to stay there. Mark.

Great experience!!
At check-in, staff was super friendly and gave us a lot of ideas for things to do, places to eat, bars, etc... The staff at the attached restaurant (OH Taco) was awesome. Bartender (Austin) was personable and knowledgeable about tequila, and offered great suggestions for local entertainment.

Great location, new facility
My husband and I did a Sandusky, Ohio getaway and found Hotel Kilbourne on this site. This is a boutique hotel and would have been out of our budget-traveler price range if not for the site discount and our redeeming a free night. First the positives: Great location on the waterfront in downtown Sandusky. Newly renovated facility in an old industrial building. We stayed in a "luxury" room that featured two king-size beds, large windows and plenty of space. The beds were comfortable with premium bedding and a firm mattress, though the metal frame was a bit squeaky on my husband's side of the bed. The bathroom and shower were new and spotlessly clean. The shower was the size of a small room--very nice. Just a couple of negatives: Walls are very thin. Luckily the hotel was not super busy during our stay so we only heard our next door guest one night--but you could clearly hear the couple talking and walking around. Street noise would be a problem in high season. We were spared for a couple of reasons: mid-week stay and rainy weather. I would think twice about our room if the bar on the first floor was open. The patio noise would be an issue. (There was a jar of ear plugs in the room.) Breakfast: For a boutique hotel, this needs an upgrade. A small yogurt, tiny cup of granola (I think), an apple, juice and coffee got you started, but for the price of the rooms more effort here would go a long way. All in all a good stay and the only hotel downtown as far as I could tell.
