Call Anchorage Police before you book
DANGEROUS. STAY AWAY. It may look nice n clean n safe but is far from it. I was walking around n witnessed a fight around the corner n I ran away. When I looked back one of the guys was knocked out n layin in the street. I ran to the hotel n asked front desk to call the police bc the guy seemed dead. Front desk guy said this happens all the time n is just two drunk guys fighting. He said someone else will report it n he just wouldn’t call the police. This was the same guy that told me it was safe to walk to wal-mart that same evening. I later called the police to ask what happened to the guy in the street n they said no one reported it. The policeman said this is one of the most unsafe intersections in Anchorage bc of homeless population. He said they are always called there for problems n they watch it carefully. He said you should not even walk around there during the day. Please call Anchorage police n ask them if you don’t beleive me. Don’t be fooled bc the hotel looks new n clea w fridge n kitchen. It is a slum n the front desk guy is a jerk. . I heard him talking in the hall the next day about the owner letting people stay there for $40 night prob drugs. I don’t know what that meant but it scared me. After I checked out n unpacked my bags I couldn’t find my passport n cash n called asking for video. he said I was making false accusation n if I leave a review abou it he would delete it. I did find my wallet later but I am warning everyone to stay away for your safety.

Fantastic value
If you are looking for all the creature comforts of home, this is not the place for you. Simply put, it the Basics. It's a very well kept, clean, and comfortable place to stay, at a price that is impossible to beat. Each of the shower/restrooms accommodates one person, but in the week I've been there, there has not been a single time where one of them wasn't open when needed. They have a challenges at times with partiers, but they are diligent in their duties in addressing excess noise. It is clearly advertised that this is a European style hotel; so you go in knowing what to expect. The room I had has a medium size refrigerator and lots of shelf space for food and snacks. There are no drawers, so takes a little away from "comfort"; but for the price, this is still a fantastic value. Room cleaning is on demand. Again, this is not a full service hotel; for that, you can go pay $80 and up at other places. It is centrally located, with downtown a few minutes drive, and diamond mall a ten to twelve minute drive away. The library is a few minute drive, and grocery stores are just as close.

Good 6.0
The property was clean. However, when checking in there were several rambunctious young adults roughhousing in the lobby and being very loud. It was intimidating, and made us wonder if we were safe staying there. The front desk employee was dirty , poorly dressed, unshaven, unfriendly, and once again gave us trepidation upon our safety. He did not control the lobby situation. Having said that, our stay was quiet upon our return for the evening, the shared bathroom was clean and lockable, and we experienced no danger. There were several homeless people wandering around the area. The room was generally too warm with no airconditioning. We had to open a window for fresh air, risking granting access to a homeless person, or worse, as there are no screens on the windows, and we were on the first floor. Old worn sheets and beds, a very small tv, and no private bathroom rounded out the stay. So why stay there you ask?..... It was cheap and available. I would like to add that the evening front desk employee was polite and efficient. I can not recommend this property. It was not worth it.

Fair 4.0
Shared bathroom and kitchen. Not my thing. Booked quickly and overlooked (the “shared” part that was cut off by limitation of my phone. Orbitz, or Sockeye, You should write as part of description shared bathroom and the fact the kitchen is “shared” in the amenities section. Front desk said it was advertised as “European style” lodging but I looked back and don’t see that description anywhere. No cups or utensils in kitchen area to use (needed a glass and knife). Someone turned fan on in bathroom in middle of night and walls are thin. Other neighbor had tv up loud. Description should be more clear. Amenities section should more clearly state in room description or in intro paragraph about bathroom and kitchen being shared. Non refundable or I would have went to another place.

Very Good 8.0
Fine place to stay for the price. The Irish Pub next door is great and a good place to grab a quick drink at the end of a long day before going to bed. Biggest issue was the noise from other people staying there because of the shared bathrooms. If people came in late or got up super early they tend to make a lot of noise going in and out of rooms and in the bathrooms. Other big issue was we stayed here in June when it doesn't get dark out and the curtains did not do a good job of blocking the light. Blackout or any sort of curtains would have really gone a long way in making our stay more pleasant.
