A Sensible Place to Stay on Easter Island
The Puku Vai is a motel-style one-story hotel located just two blocks from the airport terminal, so you can easily walk there when you arrive. As a result, it's a few blocks further from the main restaurant area than some other hotels, but still not that far (though a rental car or taxi helps if you are carrying groceries or late at night). Rooms are large and air conditioned (unusual on Easter Island), with plenty of hot water. The hotel has a small swimming pool if you don't feel like driving to the beach. There isn't much noise at night, but the local roosters will make sure you get up at sunrise (again, a general Easter-Island feature, not a hotel defect). The breakfast buffet is fine. We had hoped for more support from the hotel arranging tourist outings--staff were friendly, but a bit evasive. You really need to know what you want before you get there, since internet is exceedingly slow (again an island-wide issue, not a hotel issue). Overall, a reasonable choice at the high end of Easter-Island offerings.

Great service!
We just had a very pleasant stay at Puku Vai. The personnel was very friendly and helpful. They even made a cake for my husband's birthday! :-) The lobby of the hotel is very nice and they have a very good breakfast. Rooms are a little dated but overall in good condition. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

A comfy and great value stay on Easter Island
This is a great option for a few days on Easter Island. It’s walking distance from the airport (even toting a couple of suitcases behind you) and it has pretty much everything you could ask for - a big comfortable bed, a decent shower and a good breakfast. The air-conditioning works well and there’s a great pool. It’s a bit of a walk into the main street but unless you have mobility issues it’s hardly an issue. There is wi-fi but it’s very slow. Don’t get upset about it - it’s pretty much the same everywhere on the island. The only thing I’d love as an addition there would be an espresso coffee in the mornings. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. A great spot to base yourself on Rapa Nui
