Awesome place and location
Our stay was very good. The hotel is close by to a number of things and Kyoto station so you have access to a lot. I would say the worst part of our stay was the bed, and I know it’s Japan and all the mattresses are quite thin but still it was uncomfortable at times.

Nice hotel, room was a bit small but no issues with it. FYI, The showers are on the 1st floor and need to use them there, a single/double person room does not have them in the room. The restaurant is really nice on the 1st floor. It's also about a 10 minute walk to the train station so it's great location.

Excellence and convenience for relax
Our stay in Sakura Terrace The Atelier was just amazing. Everything was clean and nice, the room inside is not very big, however we knew it beforehand (this is common to Japan). At the same time it was super convenient: showers downstairs are amazing, chill-out area with tables is fantastic, breakfast is very good (especially for this price). Location was very convenient (subway is 2 minutes, 1.48 walking to be precise, we measured, and ~15 minutes to Kyoto Railway Station), so we highly recommend Sakura Terrace The Atelier to anyone who is thinking about coming here.

Bunk Beds aren't for tall people
I don't even consider myself that tall, coming in at 5'7", but the bottom bunk bed is the length of the width of the room and left me with 1" clearance with my feet flat against the opposite wall! My boyfriend is 6'1" and slept on the top bunk and his feet barely hit the edge of the bed. The beds are also not really beds, they are more of a mat on a padded platform. The free space left under the loft was enough to store a carry on stroller luggage and the large checked bag. If you can sleep fetal, then you should be ok. If you sleep like a starfish, don't attempt. Thread count is also lacking so it wasn't even a "nice" sleep lol. Shared amenities wise, I think this place did well enough. My largest concern is there's only 2 shared toilets for female and 1 toilet and 1 urinal for males per floor. Up to 41 rooms per floor. That is insane. There is a "stall" in the changing room/showers but only one. I believe there is also a shared bathroom in the lobby. Anyways, hope your "schedule" doesn't conflict with someone else's! I didn't mind the shared showers though, never had an issue of waiting really. There's 5 western style showers and then 5 traditional (sit down) ones and one HOT soaking bath that is oh so nice. Keep in mind if you have a tattoo, you are not allowed to use the traditional showers and soaking bath (onsen), this is common throughout all of Japan. Breakfast also looks delicious but it's average at best and mainly leftovers. My favorite were the corn flakes.
