Fantastic place in Kyoto
I loved everything about Sakura Atelier ! It by far exceeded my expectations

Good place
The proximity to Kyoto Station was great, but there isn't much to do or eat nearby. We were at the Sakura's "sister" hotel which did not have a bathroom (toilet) in the room. The shared public baths were very nice and clean. I would stay here again for the price.

Give this place a try!
A ‘shared living space’ hotel is very non-traditional for Americans, so we were skeptical at first, but came to really enjoy it! The room is super small (but you don’t spend much time there anyway) and the shower room is impressive. The best part of this hotel is the common area and the ability to enjoy coffee each morning - a luxury that you don’t find in many other places. It is also in a great location next to Kujo station making it easy to get around. We will absolutely book here again!

Excellent location, Wifi Good, Clean, Food No Good
The location was great. An easy walking distance to the Kyoto train station and on a quiet street. Nearby restaurants & shopping including a Family Mart at the corner was convenient. Wi-fi & lounge area good including in-room Wifi. Reception staff and breakfast staff excellent. Clean shared shower/bath. Carpet in hallways are worn, old & need to be replaced. Room 318 was very, very tiny - way too cramped. Food for dinner was not good - everything is frozen & heated up - not worth the cost. Breakfast is okay. There are 3 choices from a menu plus a small buffet of food. Coffee very weak and often not replaced when the pot empties but you can ground your own coffee.

Communal bathrooms and shower areas were clean. Room was clean but small. Nice selection of tea and coffee downstairs for guests.

Very clean and friendly place. Conveniently located within walking distance of the train station. I wish we would have asked how to properly use the clothes dryer, but we eventually figured it out.

Don't expect too much
Limited hot water supply in the room and the public bathroom. Despite already paying for the hotel charge and fees online, I still have to pay an additional tax on arrival to Kyoto City. Check out time is 10am.

Nice but simple
Nice hotel, easy access to train station and restaurants. Room was very tight for two people only one piece of luggage can open at a time and bed was super hard and tight. But if your looking for convienence and a decent place to stay this works.

Great Stay
I stayed for 3 nights from 12/7-10. The place was very unique and had a great western feel to it. The people at the reception desk was quite friendly and helpful. The lobby area had an interesting layout as well. 1) Area where you can make coffee, freshly grounded I may add. 2) Place to make tea as well if you like to. 3) An enclosed glass area for smokers. 4) Laundry room where there are 4 washers and 4 dryers. Free of charge. 5) General place where people can hangout. 6) Place where guests can borrow things like extra blankets, hairdryers, board games, etc.. but just let the front desk know you are borrowing it. 7) A place where you can return any used plates or glasses after just finish eating so the receptionists can help wash it. Overall a great stay. The only downside i had, although not a fault of the hotel, was open showers/bathing area but they did have individual shower stalls as well. It my fault for not reading closely of what the hotel offered. This is generally quite common in Japanese hotels/shared guesthouses. Coming from a western culture, i do not deal with public nudity well, although i think foreigners get used to it they longer they stay.
