It's located close to the subway/.train station and had everything we needed for a local stay. The kitchen and washer was very helpful for us to make it like home.

    Everything you need
Lovely quiet hotel in charming residential walkable neighborhood but near train stations, major shopping area, Nijo Castle and shrines galore. Room unusually spacious for Japan. Instructions for appliances in English. Useful to have washing machine, stove etc. Freezer was very cold. Cell phone available for use if you don’t have your own

It's as good as it sounds
The room was large which is not too common in Japan...it was in a residential area near a cool shopping arcade full of local bars and restaurants. Really near the castle and on good bus routes. It had a small kitchen with washing machine, microwave and fridge. With free use of a mobile phone that had unlimited data and international calls and texts, this is surely the best value stay in Kyoto.

    Lovely Stay
The particular hotel we stayed at is very well located - it was right next to a covered street with many restaurants and shops and easy to catch a bus. Having a washing machine was wonderful.

    Clean/modern, no front desk
There is no front desk so if you're a first-time visitor to Kyoto, you won't have someone local to help with general info that you normally would at a hotel. However, this was a nice, clean hotel in a very convenient area (close to Karasuma Shijo station, two stops off Kyoto Station). The room is very clean and comfortable, although the bedroom area is very small. No room for even a dresser so we lived out of suitcases for four days. It looks like this hotel is either brand new or very recently remodeled. Either way, the rooms were modern with new appliances and everything looked clean and well-cared for. Overall, I would recommend this hotel because it's just off the main road enough to avoid commotion but still has easy access to most of what you'd want to see/do in Kyoto. Just do your research first. Best part was the hotel lent us a portable Wifi, which made it so convenient while we were out and about. The only thing I'd note is the patio area is TINY and never gets sun because it's against another building. Therefore, just takes longer to dry your clothes. Again, not the worst thing but just noted for families who may do laundry during their stay here.
