Okay, Could Be Better if They Fixed It Up.
The setting is the best part about our stay. We took two hikes from the lodge to the falls, one on each side of the river. While the Cumberland Falls are more dramatic, Eagle Falls are prettier. We stayed in the Dupont Lodge. There is a fine line between rustic and shabby. I'd say the lodge is the latter. The interior needs a coat of paint and new carpet, especially the carpet going downstairs to the restaurant. Rooms are small and comfortable. I would get a second floor room as the floors squeak. We were on the first floor below a constant pacer. The WiFi was good. The bathroom was clean but there were exposed orange PVC pipes for the sprinkler system. The food and service in the restaurant were good. We ordered off the menu the first night and had the buffet the second and preferred the menu items. The restaurant has a view of the river, but the windows were covered with handprints. Every other Monday there is a "jam session" with local musicians coming in to play together. We enjoyed that, especially the dulcimer players.

A few complaints , but overall good.
We stayed for our 15th anniversary. I didn’t expect much because after all it is a lodge, but there was construction going on during our stay and the hammering on the roof was annoying when we needed rest. Several exits were blocked as well. The mattresses were not firm at all, which I realize is a personal preference. I slept ok on it, so that’s not an issue really. The lodge was clean and the staff very friendly. The front yard and back patio are lovely. The restaurant food was delicious!!! We enjoyed seeing the critters outside while we ate. Overall, I would recommend this place. I do wonder if the cost was worth it. Seemed high, especially when you pay for all food out of pocket on top of that.

The building and setting are rustically beautiful, but it needs some TLC. The restaurant has good food with a great view. The room was comfortable but the bedding had hair on it. Helpful staff and good wifi. It was fine for a lower priced hotel.

Heavenly hideaway
Loved the location and the lodge. It has amazing views, comfortable room and many hiking trails near the river and Cumberland Falls. I would love to come back to see the moonbow and swim in the gorgeous pool.

Family Reunion
This was a family reunion and EVERY SINGLE PERSON loved it. Loved the view, the cabin, the Lodge, the trails. We needed extra chairs to play board games; housekeeping brought right over. Had a surprise dinner party for my dad's bday on the lodge terrace, overlooking the river -- front desk very helpful. Cant wait to go back.
