Delayed check-in, but still a good experience.
Our check in time was at 3:00, but the room wasn’t ready, we had to wait for over an hour for the property to have a room available for us. We had been on the train to DC for almost 7 hours, with two children, and were really looking forward to settling in, and freshening up after the train. We were hot and tired, and after following up with the front desk a couple of times…we were finally assigned a room, and able to leave the busy and noisy lobby, it was a relief. The room was clean overall, but the handle on the bathroom door didn’t latch and was unable to be locked. The bathroom is located in the bedroom, and not the living area, which wasn’t the most convenient location considering we were traveling with children, who had to come into the bedroom to use the restroom. The room layout, specifically the bathroom was somewhat not to my liking or preference. The king suite was a little tight for us and the two children. If staying here again, especially with children, I would try to book two adjoining rooms if possible. The breakfast buffet was a nice inclusion, the food was ok, and there was a good variety. The location at the Wharf was fun. Lots of restaurants, nightlife, and close-ish to the national mall. The rooftop pool was a nice amenity, especially since it’s was over 90° each day of our trip! Overall a good experience, besides the delayed check-in and challenging family bathroom room floor plan.

A cool Wharf Vibe
The view was wonderful of the Wharf. The hotel was clean and modern. The elevator was modern and safe but we kept wanting to push buttons inside, but they were not there! It was a cool concept.

Lack note taking & communicating with each other.
My stay itself was fine other than the lack of communication within the staff & the breakfast lacking variety & flavor. The hotel front desk (morning/afternoon) staff didn't take proper notes about my check-in and it cost me in the long run. They charged my card instead of letting me pay w/cash after I made it clear at check-in that I wanted to pay in cash at check out (which is allowed - its on their site and I called prior to make sure, even tripled check at check-in). I said it multiple times to the young lady who checked me in and again to another lady when I picked up my keys & bags from the front desk. The 2nd lady tried to double charge my card for the incidental fee I paid prior to checked in w/the first lady. That could have been prevented with a simple note on file. They charged my stay on the card I handed them for the incidental fee hold. Not once did I give them permission to charge my mastercard for the actual stay at the hotel. Its not even the card hotel.com had on file for me. Since most of the area is cashless and I pay my bills by card, it really messed up my evening as I no longer had money on my card to go to the places that I wanted to go to & I now have to waste gas to pay my bills in person with cash verses online like I normally would to save money. As sweet as the morning staff was - the lack of communication pretty much put a damper on my last day in the area and the rest of week.
