Mostly great stay
We enjoyed our 5-night stay at Hampton Inn Loyola. The hotel is modern, clean and the staff at the front desk was always friendly and helpful. We had specifically requested and had been assured of an adjoining room with my elderly mother, but when we checked in we were told there were none available. The person at the desk told us we might be able to switch rooms on another day to adjoining rooms. We were booked into separate rooms on the 2nd floor. When my husband asked if we could get rooms on a higher floor, the person at the desk discovered adjoining rooms available there and booked those instead. I was disappointed that, after being reassured when we made our reservation that we would be accommodated, we weren't going to be...but it all worked out. One evening we came back to our room to discover that it had not been cleaned, which was disappointing. The breakfast that is included was very nice. They have waffle makers, juice, milk, fresh fruit (usually just apples), sometimes yogurt, eggs (some days scrambled, some days omlette), potatoes, bacon or sausage and a variety of breads - muffins, bagels, pastries. One suggestion would be to put a large garbage can in the food area as there isn't one and the one by the tables isn't nearly big enough to contain all of the paper products people throw away. All-in-all, the location was great for us, very short walk to red line, right across the street from Loyola and close to the water. Will plan to stay there again.

Nice Stay
Room was very clean, comfortable and new-looking. Small fridge in the room a definite plus. Included continental breakfast was fine, though nothing about it particularly stood out. Convenient access to the traIn (Loyola station only a block away) also nice. TV was up-to-date, worked well, and for the first time in my memory, ALL the channels were HD. We stayed there because it was relatively close to our son's apartment, and it is very close to Loyola University, but other than that, I'm not sure why you would choose this part of Chicago for a stay. The most negative thing to say is that parking is an issue, which obviously holds true for most of Chicago. Valet parking is available at a rate of $35/day. Dining options within walking distance are limited to various franchises, e.g., Five Guys, small ethnic restaurants, and a pretty good brewpub, Bulldog Ale House. There is no in-hotel restaurant, though the Bulldog Ale House provides room service to the hotel. We did not find any fine dining options close by. WiFi mostly worked well, except the day we left, when we had trouble connecting (wanted you to sign in the network, but wouldn't let you). Our room overlooked N. Sheridan Rd., and there was some traffic noise. Rooms not overlooking this main road are presumably quieter.

Nice neighborhood, close to restaurants, city train station, 15 min driving to downtown, nice sandy beach within one block. Modern and clean hotel, good breakfast. The area was built in 1920's without concept of car parking - which is expected. Local residents struggle to find parking on the street, where you might not be able to insert your finger between car bumpers. And it is for locals only. In no way you can find a free parking space there. I'm telling this, because this hotel has same problem. Not sure why a few years old hotel was build to have parking trouble by design. There is a little parking parking spot behind, to which you don't have access - only through valet. Valet guys are working hard playing Tetris with guest's cars on the lot, as well as parking anywhere in driveways and even on the sidewalk. This might seem to be a convenience for quests, but at some times especially at check out time you might wait for your car for quite long. And you pay $35 per day for that. One annoying thing was their WiFi. All my devices were kicked out of WiFi few times a day, where I had to reconnect by going through their sign in page over and over again. Missed few important emails first day when did not realize this.

New hotel with Excellent Service
We stayed at this hotel over Easter weekend. The hotel is new - so everything in excellent condition, great design and clean. The welcome mat at the hotel entrance reads "Making you happy makes us happy", and that is precisely what my experience was. This hotel is located very close to the red line of Chicago trains - great for access to transportation, terrible for trying to sleep as the train runs 24 hrs. So, shout out to sensitive sleepers - You Will Need Silicone Earplugs or similar to block out noise. My first night there I could not sleep with the train rumbling by every 10 mins. Changing rooms in the middle of the night was not an option as my partner was sound asleep. The next day, Andrew the manager worked with me with great care and thoughtfulness on the problem. He took me to a number of different rooms, listening and checking out noise levels. We found a room that was the least noisy, and he volunteered to find a fan to put in the room to add a layer of white noise to help with the sleep. Experiencing his attentiveness alone alleviated some of the stress. Happy ending - I managed to have a good night's sleep after all the effort !

New Hotel with some kinks to be work out
The hotel was very nice and obviously had not been open more than a few months. Pros: 1) Easy Access to Public Transportation 2) Well Maintained facilities 3) Front desk let us borrow a bottle opener at no charge 4) Quiet Floor 5) Front desk tried to be accommodating letting us know where we could order food from nearby as it was Christmas Day. Cons: 1) The check-in staff did not explain the complimentary breakfast (hours or location), so I missed it both days. 2) The staff knocked on our door multiple times to check to see if we were still in the room. This was confusing and also disruptive. 3) The housekeeping was late. We asked that housekeeping clean our room while we were out (we left for 4.5 hours during check-out time when cleanings are normally done) - when we arrived back, it was not cleaned. We approached the cleaning woman who did not speak English, but assured us she would only be 15 mins (an hour later she arrived).
