cool hostel in a lively neighborhood
This is a hostel not a hotel so expect shared accommodation. The location is farther from the main DC attractions but in a youthful neighborhood. The overall offer is somewhat better than HI Washington DC if you don't mind being farther.

It was very comfortable. Location was a bit outside the main sightseeing places but accessibility was okay.

Great hostel! Felt like old friends...
It was really fun! The receptionist was so friendly. I think her name was mee kay (sorry) but from the moment we walked in we felt apart of something bigger. The guest were all cool and inviting. Would have been nice to have great weather! We happened to come when unexpected snow arrived haha but nonetheless they had $1 drinks and a bar crawl. People were respectful during lights out even though we were up until 4:30am. Defining will stay again!

Nice place for cheap price.
Nice place, pretty clean, the attendants are good, and they have a great kitchen where you can cook your food. The breakfast is free. While you might feel congested (an average room accommodates 8-16 people) and there may be privacy concerns, but given the fact that it is a hostel, for the money this is perhaps the best deal you can get. If I visit this part of DC again, I won't mind staying there again.

very busy street, cute area, nice people
This is an old row house made into a hostel. It is the cutest place ever. The staff is top notch. I really appreciated the little toiletries that you typically don't get at a hostel. Breakfast was also nice! It is very basic, bread and cereal but who cares, it's free. It was also great to have real milk and coffee! You can also use the stove/fridge to cook your own food if you find the time to go grocery shopping. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the sheets were clean. Nice fresh fluffy towels. The dorm rooms however just looked like they needed a good scrub. Very dusty floors and questionable bathrooms. Urine on the toilet seats I can understand with so many people using them all day, but hair and dust balls in the corners can easily be prevented by an occasional deep clean. Wifi was quite weak, down most of the time I was there. Is the area "residential"? I mean yes, if you walk north there are endless tree-lined streets of beautiful mansions with well groomed dogs out walking them. The hostel in particular tho faces a very busy bar street. Easy to find a drink, but hard to sleep. You will need to use the provided earplugs. Getting around... I walked back from the U.S. Capital one night. I would not recommend this for everyone. It was about an hour. The metro was easy to figure out, bus still just under a mile walk from any station. The buses will get you closer if you find the right one to take. D.C. Area seems very safe.
