10/10 Exceptional

Historic hotel, excellent service and helpful staff, rooms are small and dated, lobby is the highlight!

10/10 Exceptional

Beautiful hotel with a grand lobby overlooking Waterton Lakes. Staff wearing kilts greet guests at the entrance and help with luggage. Only 1 hand-cranked original Otis elevator to service 6 floors. The elevator must be operated by hotel staff. Most guests use the stairs unless they are transporting luggage. Parking is $12 per night. Each evening, a pianist plays familiar songs in the lobby. A historical talk about the hotel is given at 8 p.m. Board games are available to be played in the many sitting areas of the lobby. The main restaurant serves up fine dining. Absolutely worth a try. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. We enjoyed the PEI mussels, the bison meatballs, Mediterranean salad, bison steak, and Elk ragout. Great food and service! Our room was rather small. With a double bed and a twin bed, there was no room even for a chair. Due to the age of the hotel, there wasn't enough infrastructure for a microwave or a mini-fridge. We did get a kettle from the front desk. Also, hair dryers may be borrowed from the front desk. Overall, a lovely stay in a hotel with a lot of character!

10/10 Exceptional

It was a real experience staying in this historic hotel. Room, bath and plumbing are all adapted as tastefully as the old space allows, while preserving the original character. Dont expect everything to be modern, but its part if the charm and the experience.

8/10 Very Good

Beautiful Views
Location is stunning, overlooking the lake. Having to pay to park when you stay is a bit rude especially with what they charge for a room. The rooms are simple. Bed was comfortable and they provide a fan which we used as there is no AC. But.. no coffee maker, hair dryer or daily cleaning/towel replacement. There is a Starbucks in the gift shop but don't go there on Sunday as it's closed. The hotel has coffee in the lobby but only from 6 - 8 a.m. The staff seemed to be predominantly students and some were a little lost looking. The men looked very smart in their kilts though. We had the afternoon tea which was disappointing, food in the lounge, again disappointing. I would definitely recommend walking up to this hotel, they charge visitors to park as well, to see the view from up there but don't stay. It is very expensive for what you get.

10/10 Exceptional

Our room view was espectacular, quiet and cozy room in 6th floor of an antiq and historic building, with a window that opened on to the lake, with the sound of the wind blowing constantly made us feel sailing on a ship. Clean room, very nice staff, good breakfast, excellent location, not very fancy though, there were no elevator beyond 4th floor, but it was worth to stay at least one night, we had a great time there. Thank you
