IF YOU WANT ITCHY EYES AND SNEEZING STAY HERE. OTHERWISE KEEP AWAY!!! First night, we were given a room (40) which required us to go up and and down about 3 or 4 flights of steps. The room smelled of food, ac gave out a sour odour. Started sneezing when I entered the room eyes got itchy when I pulled the duvet near my chin. We asked for a room change and was told hotel fully booked, can only change the next today (132). Disappointing when we booked and paid for the hotel in late April. The next room had paint peeling off, hair dryer not properly attached to the wall. Not only did I sneeze, my eyes got very itchy again. Noticed that carpets have not been vacuumed as I spilled some powder and it was still there in the evening. Toilet tissues, coffee creamer were not replenished. At reception when I told them about it, he said that I had to hang the "please clean room" sign on the door, which we did. The receptionists were chatting with each other and I had to wait for them to finish their chat! The next day, spoke to the manager and she promised that the room will be cleaned top to bottom and that she would refund our first nights accommodation costs. While it's true that the room was cleaned, that day, it was not vacuumed again. Meanwhile my itchy eyes and sneezing continued and got worse. This is at best a 1 star hotel. Only 2 good things - location and internet access. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE.

Great location
I chose this hotel at short notice for its great location, close to the Central Station which was convenient for travel in and around the city. So the location was just what I wanted. However, it would have been good to know that the exterior of the hotel is being renovated before I clicked 'Book'. My tiny single room seemed exceptionally claustrophobic because the window was obscured by the scaffolding and netting for the restoration work. The tired mattress springs meant the bed was less than comfortable and the overall condition of the hotel suggests that the refurbishment is needed inside as well as out. On the plus side, arrival and departure were easy and efficient and the room air conditioning worked well through two exceptionally hot nights in Amsterdam. The free wi-fi worked - slowly but it worked.

Sleep on the streets of the red light district!
Without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The standard triple room at this hotel is by far the worst room, as it faces the back of the hotel facing an alley that leads straight from red-lit windows to a floor-to-ceiling window with NO soundproofing. Until 4am every night, you can clearly hear all conversations of every person on the street. We were even lucky enough to have people knocking on our window at 3am. It really feels like you are sleeping on the streets of the red light district. The room itself was run-down. The shower does not stay in "shower mode," half the water escapes from the faucet and you are left with almost no water pressure coming from the shower head. The coffee from the machine in the room is broken as well, as the coffee comes out looking more like light-brown water than actual coffee. To top it all off, the front desk staff are extremely rude, and did nothing to honor our request to change rooms and even placed the blame on me. Like most places in Amsterdam, the staff at this hotel are looking to take advantage of you and extract as much money as they can. Also, don't be fooled by their luggage storage service, your bags are placed in a public room which is easily accessed by potential thieves. Stay away.

Great location, great staff, adequate hotel
The first room given to us was an abomination. It was dark, musty, dirty and had flies all around. After going to the front desk, and requesting a different room, they were very accommodating. We were given a double room, which was all we needed for the first night, and then a different quad for the remainder of our stay. The condition of the room was adequate, still though, the cleanliness could be better. Dirty walls, dirty carpet, and no real attention to the overall cleanliness of the room. They changed the sheetsand towels and restocked the coffee, but that seemed to be about it. A wall was unpainted and the TV was about to fall off the wall. Overall, the staff was very friendly, and tried their best to make our stay comfortable, the hotel is going through some renovation, but seems like it could use a very large dose of TLC. The location of the hotel and the front desk staff were definitely the best part of our stay.

Very Good 8.0
It has a perfect location very near to everything, 3 minutes from the station and dam square. However the hotel is very basic as described, the room size is too small and noisy. We have been offered the room which is opposite to the shared bathroom, It was an advantage and disadvantage at same time. Not recommended for families as it has high stairs, noisy at night and the room uncomfortable.
