Inexpensive hotel in a convenient location
Nice place to stay if you have business to do in the central or southern part of Santiago. There are very nice restaurants including top rated ones about 0.6 miles north of the hotel, but to reach it you have to follow a street with a large number of homeless people sleeping on the street. The view on the mountains from the roof is magnificent. Unfortunately, the pool/jacuzzi had cold water because of the fall/winter season. Our room was a bit noisy at night but better than what you usually get in Santiago (from my experience). The AC was quiet.

Great Stay at the Gen Hostel
Excellent place to stay. Mariangelia and Jerry were excellent in helping us with some difficult circumstances. In my book, they need to have a pay raise...a very good pay raise! Good location. Beds very comfortable. Cleaning lady very nice. The only negative thing was the shower drain would not empty water (very slow draining). Had trouble getting TV to work, but Mariangelia and Jerry fixed it immediately. If all of the employees were as nice as Mariangelia and Jerry, you have a wonderful hotel.

    Great hotel!!
I had a very nice stay here in Santiago. The staff was very helpful, especially Eliana. During national Census day, the city was basically shut down and the staff here helped me find things to do around the city. Some staff spoke English very well. The bed in the room was HUGE and very comfortable. The restaurant on the top floor was very clean and had a good range of food to eat. I'd enjoy coming back to Gen Rooms next time I'll be in Santiago.
