NO towels, VIP promo is FAKE
Don't bother booking this hotel, especially if you are a member. We had to go two days without towels when we arrived because they said they were still with the laundry service. Seriously? If I was running a small B&B I'd go to the nearest supermarket and pick up towels. It was dreadful, couldn't even dry our hands. To top it off - the only reason I booked it over another hotels was because of the Hotels.com VIP offer of a welcome drink. That was never given, despite asking about it twice. Really disappointing.

Great location in Alfama with quick walk to Baixa-Chiado and to castle Jorge as well as Porta da sol. Shared Kitchen was a nice bonus for making my morning tea

6/10 Good

The fact that there’s no elevator on this property is hidden WAY down in the details so I’m putting it upfront here. This hotel is located in the hilliest area of the city and there’s nothing like walking a few miles straight uphill and then having to climb four floors to your room. (By that token, pack light if you’re staying here. Large carry-on bags are not easy to get up and down the stairs.) Also, you may have to check in at the Dalma hotel across the street, where they do have an elevator you can stare longingly at. The room itself was large and clean, with a beautiful view of the street, but it could have been better appointed. There is no in-room safe or refrigerator, and the only mirror in the room is in the bathroom (so, no full-length mirror), with lighting that’s far from ideal if you wear makeup. The bathroom shower could also use a really good scrubbing, and some of the towels were threadbare. They’re clearly used to death (we even got one with a different hotel’s branding, so I guess at least nothing goes to waste there?). Plus, after our first night, housekeeping took our hand towel and did not replace it. Still, the staff was very nice and thoughtful and I’d consider staying here again if I were traveling light.

Santa Luiza B&B is now part of 2 other properties, so if you need anything, you go across the street to another hotel. They are very helpful, and offer a free breakfast, but Im not sure if Santa Luzia B&B gets the same attention as it once did. Room is modern, comfortable but sparse. comfortable bed, great shower. Super location, that is its main selling point. You step outside and feel like you are in the heart of the area.

2/10 Poor

We were in room 302. This room was a nightmare. Tiny, low ceiling, dark and dank. The bathroom had black mould on the walls, and the shower was cover in black mildew. The wood trim around the bathroom door was rotting away. the wall paper in the hallways is peeling off due to moisture. The towels are threadbare and there was no soap in the bathroom. We immediately went back to reception to explain the mold problem and ask for a different room. The response we got was basically “that’s what you get here” and there were no other rooms to move to. There was no apology or shame expressed for the condition of the room. Due to the late checkin we did have to stay one night in this claustrophobic room. The next morning, we went back to reception to speak with the manager and show pictures of the mould. Again, the response from management was underwhelming. However, they did manage to find us a different room (#404) which was at least somewhat better, in that it had more air flow and higher ceilings. But, the bathroom was still mildewy and dank. We spent one night in this room. Our experience at Santa Luzia B&B was completely unacceptable. This is the worst accommodation I’ve stayed in, in all my years of travelling. Youth hostels are better than this. The fact that this has an Expedia VIP blue rating is a sham. I’ve lost trust in Expedia.

4/10 Fair

Convenient location, good restaurants nearby. However, nobody at reception, system did not work, problems with check in and even getting in. Multiple disappointing issues with the room, like lacking bulbs, leaking shadow. This is not my first stay in Lisbon, so I know there are other good hotels (more expensive though).

Terrible! Don’t be fooled by the photos.
TERRIBLE! Don’t get fooled by the photos. It seams like is going to be a good/nice hotel but it definitely is NOT. We got to the hotel and the AC would not cool, the bedside lamp was broken and won’t turn on, the bathroom was inside closet doors that won’t open completely, holes in the bathrooms walls, holes in the towels.. we asked for a refund to move to another hotel but the manager leaves at 4pm and they just can’t do anything about it. We had to sleep there with our windows open because of the AC not working and couldn’t sleep as it is an extremely loud and busy street. The next day the manager was nice to move us to their other hotel, that saved the 2nd night.
