Truly wonderful personal service from slightly harassed German proprietor and very friendly little team. Torsten (Norse name but he was from Frankfurt) COULD NOT have done more to make us feel welcome!
Arrived 2pm: 70 minute drive from Alicante airport ending in winding climb up steep hills through orange and loquat groves: very beautiful.
Nobody immediately available (9 rooms so not surprising since we hadn't told them when we were arriving) but were quickly scooped up by friendly English handyman who found Torsten. Torsten gave us the tour, explaining how he had built all the rooms over 15 years; a true labour of love, done with with flair and style. Our room was just like the pictures: KingSize 4 Poster, 2 comfy chairs. Double doors from bathroom gave us a bath & loo with a view.
Since off season the kitchen was closed that evening (Wednesday) we ate in Altea la Vella that night.
4 other nights we ate in the hotel. The menu doesn't contain choices but the food was SUPERB. We're both real foodies (usually takes a Michelin star to really satisfy us) and we were both really satisfied here. At sub-thirty Eu (+ excellent local wines)/head we had some truly excellent dinners. Atmosphere was mixed, v friendly and informal: Lovely!
We loved the terrace, food, position, tranquility, hot tub (magnificent views), & pool (clean and little used) but most of all the service. Torsten shared with us some wonderful secret places that I won't be publishing here!
Well Done!
