Pros: the beach was clean, well kept and beautiful. The overall facilities were great and updated! The spa was wonderful with an outdoor plunge pool and jacuzzi and sauna and steam room inside - though the steam room needed to be updated. Cons - cleanliness of rooms!!! When we arrived, there was pee in our rooms toilet, dust coated everything, visible grime in the sink, dirty towels and 2 cockroaches… we eventually switched rooms and it was better but not up to standards for a resort with this high of rating. THE FOOD – the restaurants were not great…. Very bland or not cooked correctly. We only went twice and used the buffet other nights. We chose to do a “private dinner” one night on the pier which is an up charge. We expected good food, but was the same as the restaurants. Our salad was served with mustard as the dressing…. And the ribeye we chose was extremely tough. Overall, nice facility but would not go back nor recommend.

Bayahibe beach at La Romana is the most amazing beach - calm clear waters with zero seaweed. The property of the resort is very well maintained and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. Our room was a bit dated and the cleaning crew could have done a better job cleaning the room (there was some sand on the floor and some dust on the cabinets). Food was OK - not the best, but def. not the worst. Kids club was average - not many toy options and practically no outside slides. But, as an option, we were able to leave our kids there for an hour or so and they were very well watched after. Entertainment was pretty good (zumba and water aerobics, beach volleyball, evening shows, etc.) All in all, we had an amazing time. We were mostly interested in the beach and the beach totally met and exceeded our expectations!

Only problems I had with this resort is there are very minimal loungers around the pools and the loungers by the beach are all saved with towels by 8 am so you had to get up early to do the chair race
