Worst hotel room ever for SGD120
These kind of accomodation should not be listed as it gives visitors a negative experience of Singapore.
The 3rd floor corridor smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. Room was a windowless closet and there was dust on the surfaces and the tv remote. The bathroom smelled bad despite keeping the toilet lid down and the bathroom door closed. We passed the night wearing medical masks to sleep. Bedsheet was gauze thin, likely a disposal sheet and the pillowcase felt unwashed from the previous guest.
The room was nothing like the photos depicted in Hotel's website. We booked this hotel based on the pictures looking normal and thought that at the price of SGD 120 it should be a decent budget room. As the room was barely habitable, it only served the job of resting overnight after returning from Penang Malaysia and heading for Changi Airport the next day. We checked out first thing in the morning just to avoid spending another 10 minutes in the nausea-inducing room. We would rather ride the clean air-conditioned buses and trains to spend the hours before the flight than remain in this room till the usual check-out time.
Key takeaway is to avoid budget hotels in Singapore and to book weeks early to get lower prices at, plus double the budget for a reputable hotel name. Alternatively make the extra effort and cross the causeway to stay in Johor Bahru for less in a decent hotel.
