The Empire Hotel, Queenstown
Sad. Beautiful hotel with much potential.
Bar guests topped hotel guests. Beautiful historic hotel not being kept up. Cereal only breakfast was very disappointing. Extremely loud group hotel staff did nothing about. Just before midnight I had to get up, go into the hall and ask them to quiet down. Perfect location if taking the train trip.

Neat hotel- very basic- aged place.
Very- too sunny room - window shades useless, sink in room did not drain, a bit spend your compared to other places we stayed at similar price? Very basic accommodation- breakie toast- cereal- o j- not bad in nice big old dining room with great windows.

A gem of the past in Queenstown
What an amazing place to stay, going back in time to heritage. We loved the room very comfortable and clean. Walking up to the room with that amazing stairway just adds to the whole experience Great prices, fantastic staff, delicious counter meals what more do you need

Basic but great food
We stayed here as we wanted just somewhere to sleep before going rafting the next day. We checked in via the bar which was fine but the bar area was uninviting. We ate at the pub and I have to say it was superb. Truly, the food exceeded my expectations. Our room was small and awful. Not even a wardrobe plus sash cords on the sash windows had snapped. My adult daughter and I used the modernised bathrooms as the rest on the top floor were horrible (we had room 18). We were to understand later on that the owner is slowly modernising the hotel. There is so much period charm to this hotel but carpets and wallpaper do need to be brought up to date and he should hurry up on renovations. Queenstown was suprisingly nice and you must do the King River Rafting full day.
