Food, fun and chaos!
Truly one of the finest hotel restaurants top to bottom. Food best Indian we've ever had, and with service to match Kite flying with staff on roof a wonderful surprise. Live nightly Indian music perfect touch. Great location. tho after dark best maybe to enjoy the hotel experience as some street sunlight. Taxi drop off 2 blocks from hotel, prepare for this in advance with respect to coordinating porter etc. We walked and explored everywhere for the most part, really enjoyed that. Prepare for the street noise, constant hawking, traffic. Locals pretty much ignored us unless trying to sell something/ service. Hotel is an oasis in a sea of energized chaos that's old Delhi.

India Up Close
What a beautiful restored haveli in the middle of tiny narrow alleys and budy Delhi life.

The most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in!
This was honestly one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. The hotel is an old palace that has been painstakingly restored and the result is just absolutely stunning. The service was great and the food was also very good. My only qualm about the entire experience was that the hotel was actually really difficult to find. There were no instructions to get there and since it's on old Delhi, cars just can't get on. Our driver drove around for 45 mins just looking for a way in. We ultimately had to get out and take a rickshaw and even the rickshaw driver didn't know where it was. When we finally did manage to get there, however, it was all worth it.

Mixed Bag
This was an expensive hotel for me and expensive for the area at $268 a night before tax. The room was very pretty and the hotel is historic and charming. However the room is a little misleading from the pictures - they were taken from the outside looking into the room through glass windows. It gives the appearance of a separate area from the bedroom which there is not. The area -Old Delhi - is why in part I chose it, historic and charming. But you must be willing to carry your bags a block or so as cars can't get to the hotel. The food is very good and the staff is very nice. No complaints there. My phone would not dial down to the reception - not a big deal but when I needed something I had to run downstairs. I ordered tea to take up to my room that never arrived (again not a big deal). But what really surprised me was when I was given a bill for a sheet and two towels!! I accidentally spilled a full cup of coffee from my nightstand. I didn't want it to get on the mattress so I grabbed a towel, put it under the dirty part of the sheet and went down to tell reception. They had someone change the sheet when I was at dinner. Tonight I was presented with a bill for ($1490 rs - about $22 dollars) because they couldn't clean the sheet and towel! First, I am surprised some bleach would not clean a white towel and sheet. Second, I am surprised that a hotel with this price and quality would charge for an accident. More the principal than the price.
