Silver Rapids Lodge is a beautiful physical setting with the lakes, narrows, rapids, rocks and forest. The overall lodge facility has a 1940s/1950s ambiance, which is neat and inviting. The room we were given was good sized, was generally clean and it had a newer refrigerator & microwave. The maid was very helpful. The wood table and wood chairs were vintage, comfortable and neat. Unfortunately, the room was quite "dated" and is in need of significant repairs & updates. Examples include: water pressure in shower/tub was low; bathroom sink/cabinet were old and well used; no hooks in bathroom to hang wet towels so they dry; bathroom door knob was very loose; lighting was VERY DIM; kitchenette's sink, cabinets and counter looked like it was from the 1970s and well used.; Old carpet in the room.; The deck and deck furniture was dirty and dated; the deck was in need of scrapping and a fresh coat of paint; the sliding screen door to the deck needed to be replaced; there were 2 wasp nests in the eaves less than 2 feet from the top of the sliding door; the front door did not have a storm door on it so you could not open the front door and the deck door and allow a natural cool breeze to go thru the room. In addition, the docks were in TERRIBLE condition. At least 50% of the dock system was unusable due to being broken and under water, rotted boards, broken framing and handrails, etc. The asphalt roads were in terrible shape too.

This is a classic, old north-woods resort. The room was very clean, well equipped with new appliances, furniture, paint and flooring. The scenery is gorgeous and lots of places to hike. There are lots of families with dogs, good parking and Ely has fun things to do. Loved it!

The place was nice. Easy check in. We stayed in the motel part. Room was nice and the deck overlooking the lake was very good. Way went down to the bar and had diner and listened to the live music. It was a quick stay but we may be back with the kids.

I stayed in a motel room overlooking the lake prior to a trip into the Boundary Waters. A little nervous at the plain and aging exterior, I was pleasantly surprised with the renovated and very comfortable room. This property has a friendly, traditional resort vibe, with cabins, camper parking and the motel. The bar was still open on a rainy evening and they served my favorite Castle Danger on tap. I would love to visit this resort again!
