Artsy, family-run place
Sweet and quirky. Fun art collection displayed everywhere (including the shared bathrooms). Gorgeous artist-tiled jacuzzi area. Rooftop terrace. Small but comfortable tatami rooms. Go for the Japanese breakfast.

Experiencing living in Japan
If you wish to experience what living in Tokyo is like, this is a great place to start. Andon Ryokan is located in a quiet neighbourhood, with good accessibility to Minowa Station, where you can take a train to the other attractions in the city. The place is like a hostel but Japanese kind. The room is very compact, but can sleep two people, and fit in some suitcases. The bathroom is compact too, so is the shower area, but they are all within reach of each room. Breakfast at the lounge is very tasty, and the hospitality service is wonderful.
