Oasis in Alajuela/Barrio San José
I was a little worried as my driver navigated through Barrio San José and warned me against walking alone--and I saw on the navi system that the hotel was very close. And then--it we were in an oasis. The grounds are beautiful with garden-lined pathways, beautiful architecture, and a stunning common area for the restaurant and pool. There is also a billiards table and space for playing games, which seemed very popular and useful for the families I saw.

Best place to stay on your first night in CR!
This is a lovely place to stay when you arrive in Costa Rica. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and the staff are exceptional. They are only about 20 minutes from San Jose airport, and a great place to begin your Cost Rican adventure. We stayed here the night of our arrival and again the night before getting flights home. We had very early flights home and they made us breafast delivered to our rooms at 2.30am, 5 am and 6am! They also arranged for the taxi pickups.
