Beautiful hotel, but inconveniently far from town.
Beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms and an excellent restaurant. Very attentive staff. However, the WiFi was subpar and although the hotel site says that the rooms are air conditioned, they are turned off in autumn. This forces you to sleep with the windows open, so bring earplugs because there are pubs close by that can get very loud at night and the church bells start ringing at 6:30am. Also the hotel is on a very steep hill, so although it appears close to the old town, it really isn’t. You can walk down, but there are many steep steps and it takes like 25 minutes. You can also take one of two funiculars, but it takes more that 10 minutes to reach them. The best way to get into town is by taxi, but it can get expensive.

Cloistered Class—serenity and art above the city
(I’m Barbara, not Sherman, please change the name. He died.) This was my second stay in 2 years.. I returned because the location on the hill, overlooking the city, is quiet and convenient to the Old Town. The rooms are reminiscent of a nun’s cell in the white simple decor, but the bathrooms offer modern luxury. The staff is friendly and helpful, making reservations for dinner, directions to places we wanted to visit. Lyon is a city if history and significance, much of it neighboring the Fourvière property. The modern Reinoso art swirls harmoniously from the historic, stunning chapel/reception room; the brick, gothic arched hallways preserve a sense of history and sanctity. I feel like I’m living in art, in history, and in ascetic luxury when I’m here. One of my favorite hotels ever. Roomy parking area, delicious breakfast, WiFi and minibar are incuded.

Beautiful restoration
The hotel is quite beautiful. Matthew and Arthur at the front desk are wonderful. They were very helpful when we needed them. The restoration details are incredible and it is an amazing property. I had a very nice conversation with the manager, who was very helpful also. We had a less than perfect dinner our first night. The server was upset with us that we hadn't made a reservation and, even though it was early and only 2 tables were taken, he was not pleased with my husband when he requested a table by the window. The hostess saved the day and we sat by the window. My husband ordered a bottle of wine, but only a glass was brought. The server tried to make my husband feel it was his mistake. When our dinners came out, they sat on the tray for a while until the hostess served them. Needless to say, they weren't the hottest by then. I chose to forgo dessert to cut the meal short. I ordered coffee and after 15 minutes asked about it. I was told "It's coming" in a very snotty voice. About 10 minutes later, my cold coffee arrived. Need I say more? Some people are really in the wrong business. What we didn't realize is that the hotel is a 10-15 minute walk and a funicular ride to get to the historic section of Lyon...and all the restaurants. There are no markets in the area if you want to buy water or snacks. (The hotel provides 3 bottles of water in the room + a juice for free.) You are able to get just coffee in the morning if you choose not to order the full breakfast.

Not quite what it should be for a 4 Star Hotel.
This is a four star hotel in a beautiful park setting in a tranquil part of Lyon. It is a magnificent property and stately old building renovated for use as a hotel. We had lunch at the bar while waiting for our room to be ready and it could not have been better. The room was disappointing for a four star hotel in that the bed was small for a double, given the price point. The room was monastery like in its simplicity, perhaps in keeping with the building’s former use, but not appropriate for a four star hotel, without as much as a picture on the wall. The television, in a word, sucked. The English language stations would alternate between being on and turning into a blue screen for minutes at a time. I complained but got no response. The free internet was almost as bad and I eventually gave up and used the data from my phone to run my iPad. The key worked in the door only with great struggle. It took ten minutes to unlock the door but could not remove the key. Staff responded fairly quickly; it took three guys to finally get the key out. A second key worked fine( not sure if it was a badly made key or the wrong one. The breakfast was excellent in keeping with its high price. €17 a day to park would be reasonable if the hotel were downtown but I thought it was overpriced in that it was a self park in a large lot.

Very nice hotel but misleading info on parking
Hotel was very nice -converted convent in a fantastic area. Only problem I had was prior to arriving, I received an email confirming my reservation with additional information. Included in that information was that they had “complimentary” parking. On Check-out I showed the desk personnel the email - she advised it was not complimentary however she advised that she would let management know about the misleading info but I still had to pay for the parking. I sent the hotel a review stating this after checkout and received no response so I’m guessing they are not concerned with this.
