Incredible Building, Fantastic Stay
Just about everything about my stay was fantastic. My only suggestion would be for the hotel to have more than one coffee dispensing machine at breakfast. Otherwise, the breakfast options, building interior, spa, and prime location make this hotel an excellent choice.

Beautiful courtyard! Away from the city center.
I had no idea this property is located on top of the hill away from the city center. When we took a taxi from the train station, we were amazed how steep the hills are around there. Not certain if this is for people with disability, or for elderly with less fit physically, or with small children, considering the location and requires a lot of walking, but if you are willing to spend time relaxing within this property, or love to run or walk a lot, this is a great place to be. Some taxi drivers won't accept credit cards, so make sure you do have cash in hand if not using Uber, etc on app. From the property to Lyon train station is about 22 -25 euros. Spa is fantastic! Breakfast is typical European style buffet. I recommend not to be seated right by the food tables. As it gets busy around there. Some sections of property has fenced up with construction site as of last weekend, check with the hotel if you would like to have a nicer view right in front of the entrance. Possible it might have been just make garden looks nicer for the warmer months. You can go around the building to see the Roman Theatre ruins as well. Currently, every weekend, there're demonstrations go on in France, if you will need to get to/from station in the city, you will need an extra time and cost in traffic jam or detours. If you are here in France for the first time, make sure to book a table for dinner at least 2 weeks in advance for great restaurants! Avg. restaurants, you probably won't need it.

Beautiful hotel, but inconveniently far from town.
Beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms and an excellent restaurant. Very attentive staff. However, the WiFi was subpar and although the hotel site says that the rooms are air conditioned, they are turned off in autumn. This forces you to sleep with the windows open, so bring earplugs because there are pubs close by that can get very loud at night and the church bells start ringing at 6:30am. Also the hotel is on a very steep hill, so although it appears close to the old town, it really isn’t. You can walk down, but there are many steep steps and it takes like 25 minutes. You can also take one of two funiculars, but it takes more that 10 minutes to reach them. The best way to get into town is by taxi, but it can get expensive.

Cloistered Class—serenity and art above the city
(I’m Barbara, not Sherman, please change the name. He died.) This was my second stay in 2 years.. I returned because the location on the hill, overlooking the city, is quiet and convenient to the Old Town. The rooms are reminiscent of a nun’s cell in the white simple decor, but the bathrooms offer modern luxury. The staff is friendly and helpful, making reservations for dinner, directions to places we wanted to visit. Lyon is a city if history and significance, much of it neighboring the Fourvière property. The modern Reinoso art swirls harmoniously from the historic, stunning chapel/reception room; the brick, gothic arched hallways preserve a sense of history and sanctity. I feel like I’m living in art, in history, and in ascetic luxury when I’m here. One of my favorite hotels ever. Roomy parking area, delicious breakfast, WiFi and minibar are incuded.

Beautiful restoration
The hotel is quite beautiful. Matthew and Arthur at the front desk are wonderful. They were very helpful when we needed them. The restoration details are incredible and it is an amazing property. I had a very nice conversation with the manager, who was very helpful also. We had a less than perfect dinner our first night. The server was upset with us that we hadn't made a reservation and, even though it was early and only 2 tables were taken, he was not pleased with my husband when he requested a table by the window. The hostess saved the day and we sat by the window. My husband ordered a bottle of wine, but only a glass was brought. The server tried to make my husband feel it was his mistake. When our dinners came out, they sat on the tray for a while until the hostess served them. Needless to say, they weren't the hottest by then. I chose to forgo dessert to cut the meal short. I ordered coffee and after 15 minutes asked about it. I was told "It's coming" in a very snotty voice. About 10 minutes later, my cold coffee arrived. Need I say more? Some people are really in the wrong business. What we didn't realize is that the hotel is a 10-15 minute walk and a funicular ride to get to the historic section of Lyon...and all the restaurants. There are no markets in the area if you want to buy water or snacks. (The hotel provides 3 bottles of water in the room + a juice for free.) You are able to get just coffee in the morning if you choose not to order the full breakfast.
