Beautiful Unique boutique hotel
El Mercado was a great pick - it is a beautiful and well kept boutique hotel, every detail was taken into consideration from the reception up to the rooms, they have a fire pit in the middle of the center garden with throws and free jazzy music every night, creating a unique ambiance for all. great customer service and they even accommodated a breakfast box to go , if your plans include getting out of the hotel before 6am -

Great hotel; great service
Accommodations were very comfortable; room and amenities quite nice. Perfect balance of contemporary and traditional design. The hotel staff were remarkably accommodating. Our luggage was lost by LATAM (and continues to be amongst the missing), the the EL Mercado staff were relentless in their calling, checking, and updating us on the luggage...even when we were on the trail and not staying at the hotel. Quite impressive. Overall, lovely, charming, and extremely helpful hotel. A taste of contemporary Peru and a great choice for a few days in Cusco.

Good 6.0
Mixed review
Good location and a lovely courtyard. Rooms were quite small and very very dark (I guess the fact its an old building with small windows meant that that was unavoidable). Down sides were shower was either scalding or cold and continuously fluctuated meaning it was very hard to have a good one, rooms always felt a little dark/damp just due to the lack of air circulating as so few windows and the service at breakfast/at the front desk was very hit and miss. Reception didnt speak good enough English so when there was an issue with check in it took the guy almost half an hour to check us in and then eventually he let us go to the room but then rang about 4 times to try and explain the issue. Really needed better English. In the breakfast room, one day they would be all over you and the next you couldn't get a glass or juice without chasing someone up. Waited 20 mins just for a coffee one day as pots needed refilling and no-one around.
