It was a wonderful experience but it rained the whole time, so there will be a next time to get the full experience

Staff is great. Very accommodating. Very pleasant. Cabins are nice but time of year definitely impacts comfort. Fall is a bit challenging on comfort. Private Safari Tour was top notch. Richard our tour guide could not have been better. Safari dinner was very good. All around rate it a “9” experience. But just be prepared “when” you stay. Cabins don’t have locks on rooms so that was a bit discomforting but overall staff, food and experience was “as advertised”. Kids would love it. Definitely a bucket list stay and the adjoining town of Calistoga couldn’t have been better for eats especially Calistoga Inn and Evagaline.

Too many surprises
There is no AC, wifi nor TV in rooms. I booked this for my 70 year old parents anniversary and there was a lot of walking and many steps to get anywhere so they stayed in the room most of the night. Their drink menu is also very limited to wine and beer for adults. Wish I had known all of this in advance. The Jeep that gave them a ride to their room when they checked in was very difficult to get into and the driver didn’t offer a step stool. The other staff was very nice and even had flowers in their room for their anniversary.

wildly overpriced & overrated; mostly goats
We stayed in a King Cabin-Tent (emphasis on "tent"), which would've been ok for $120, but ridiculous at $400/night. Check-in process is idiotic; you CANNOT walk to the cabins; they have to drive you, but are perpetually "understaffed" (despite the ridiculous fees) so they make you wait in the hot sun for literally 40 minutes to get your stuff/go to your tent. There is NO WIFI OR AC, & very FEW exotic animals. We saw one pathetic cheetah in a small enclosure, and 2 zebras. The rest are a variety of not very interesting goats/gazelles, definitely nothing worth writing home about. Our tour guide was great, but be prepared to be lectured more about "conservation" than actually getting close to any interesting animals. You are no closer than in any regular zoo (most of which have far more interesting animals). Maybe ok for small kids; pretty underwhelming for anyone over 10.
