6/10 Good

We stayed here during our recent vacation. We originally booked for two nights, but our plans changed early the next morning. We spoke with the owner and explained our plans. She said she would refund our money for the second night minus credit card fees. We had to call Orbitz to generate the refund. They tried to call her to verify she would refund our money. She didn't answer the phone. Orbitz left a message for her to return the call but she never did. I sent a text message to her but she never responded. After she told us she would refund our money.....she did not. This isn't how you treat your guests.

8/10 Very Good

Great location on the water.
Our one night stay was quiet and comfortable. Our room was clean and together when we arrived, even a bit early. The hallways and staircases were rather dirty. The staff was welcoming and smiley. It appeared that teenage children live in the home and there were some people coming and going. It was quiet in the evening for sleeping and we were able to come and go as we pleased without being bothered.

2/10 Poor

Seemed more like a frat house than B&B
Showed up at 7:00 to check in and were told the check-in person was not available until after 8. The main floor was packed with 30-40 noisy people celebrating a class reunion with no impression they were leaving anytime soon. Icing on the cake was that they had overbooked and only had the first night of our two night stay available. According to them this was my fault for booking on They did offer upgrade for the one night if we wanted to hang out with some random group of party goers and then search for another place for night 2 . Ended up going to the local motel for two quite nights in the same bed.

6/10 Good

Bad area?
We checked in around 4:30, the pile of dirty dishes from "breakfast" was still in the dining area. Breakfast is not what you'd expect from a bed and breakfast either, it's cold cereal and toast. I was disappointed with that compared to every other bed and breakfast I've been to where the breakfast that is served is worth talking about. We rounded out the evening with our car being rifled through by someone passing by and my husbands $400 watch being stolen. I wish someone would have mentioned that this place is in a run down part of town, I would have stayed somewhere else.

First B&B
This was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast and boy was it great! The mansion is huge and so welcoming. The views are amazing! The fridges were well stocked with drinks, and breakfast souffle was yummy. We stayed in the first floor but plan on returning and staying in room #2 - it has a Jacuzzi :)

4/10 Fair

Disappointed In Racine
The room view of the lake is nice. The rest of our 4 night experience was disappointing. We were received at Lochnaiar by the manager's son. He was friendly enough but disheveled and awkward. He was apparently sleeping in his clothes when we arrived. This set the tone for the rest of the stay We have better breakfast's at economy hotels on the Interstate. My wife actually cleaned up dog doodoo off the 2nd floor hall way rug(manager's dog). She told the manager twice about the doodoo stain on the rug but it was still there 3 days later when we left. Our room only received fresh towels 1 of the 4 days we were there. Dirty cups/ glasses accumulated in our room. You are pretty much on your own at Lochnaiar.
