A disappointing hotel
This hotel is located in a great spot. Very convenient to everything. Unfortunately, I think it needs a little work. In my first room the air conditioner would not get the room cool. After complaining, they moved me to another room where the air conditioner worked a little better, but barely. The thermostat will not go lower than 18 celsius, but it never got anything near even 28 celsius in my opinion. Hotels I have stayed at since had great a/c. The manager, Eric, was very good in trying to rectify some of the problems, which included poor wifi, a broken shade in the bathroom, damaged ceiling in the bathroom and walls in need of painting. But most things never got corrected. Each room had their own wifi, but for some reason my room 311 did not, and Eric had me use another room's wifi. I had another night booked here to stay after my trip to Halong Bay, but I canceled and booked at the Hanoi Allure Hotel around the corner at the same price, but a clear upgrade in accommodations. I wish I had booked my whole stay at Hanoi Allure Hotel. Management needs to put a little money and effort in upgrading the MK Premier Boutique Hotel as the location and staff are excellent, but the facility is getting run down.

Great location and affordable
Great location and centrally located to nightlife area. Plenty of food vendors and bars located outside. It is on a lively street so it can be noisy for the light sleeper. Breakfast buffet was great.

Clean, neat Boutique hotel in heart of old quarter
Hotel is on one of the busiest streets in old quarter of Hanoi. It can be quite noisy at night on the outside but rooms are pretty sound proof. Showerhead had some leaks but the rest of the facility was okay.

Bad experience
There are 2 things that soured my view of MK, both related to the Sapa tour they arranged for me: 1) They failed to properly arrange a pickup for me after arriving in Lao Cai via night train. I had to deal with a lot of shady people and waited almost an hour before someone finally came to pick me up and take me to Sapa. 2) I returned to Hanoi via night train and was told I would have a room for a few hours at the hotel in the morning to rest and shower which I was thrilled about. When I got there, a porter escorted me up to the room and to my dismay it was used and unclean! Someone must have checked out just a few min before as the bathroom was still steamy and the bathtub still full of water. I looked at the porter, horrified, and said "this room isn't clean...", and then he proceeds to hand me a clean towel from the bathroom. I immediately call the front desk and say I need a clean room. "Sorry, no more available." Whaaaat?! I don't think they realize just how gross and unsanitary this is. I don't know who was in there before me, what's on those sheets, what's in that tub. I'm supposed to rest on someone's dirty sheets?! I was so angry, but also in desperate need of a shower so I sucked it up and went for it. I called the FD again to get a fresh towel sent up since I didn't trust the one the porter pulled from the bathroom, and the guy gave me a hard time about it and said the porter had already given me one. Talk about horrendous customer service.
