My Ribeira Guest House, Porto
Good Location
The hotel is close to the river, close to the tourist sites, and restaurants. However, it is right next to a tunnel that goes over the bridge, so it is very busy and quite noisy till after midnight. There is no elevator, so do not book here if you cannot carry your luggage up multiple stories of stairs. The room was clean and good size. The shower is very small. The bed was too hard for our comfort. We also had difficulty trying to check out at 8:00am on a Monday, which we found a bit strange

Lovely NOISY refurbished units in great location.
Great location but right on busy street at entrance to tunnel. Clean, nicely refurbished, but be prepared for a lot of vehicle noise.

Must love stairs and city noise
Cute place but very few mod cons. Small room, no closet. No lift, only stairs. The better your view is, the higher the floor, the more painful the climb. We were on the 4th floor and our view was just ok. Very noisy with all the Ribiera pedestrian and vehicle traffic. This hotel is just at the mouth of a tunnel. If only another block or two over, it may be better. The room is charming but small. Many of the little charming offers don't actually work - like the record player. Cute, but didn't work. No TV or radio in the room either. Couldn't even open all the curtains. The staff were extremely nice, and the coffee in the lobby was the best I had in Porto!

We would definitely stay here again!
The room was so cool (aircon!), clean, and decorated nicely. The service was excellent and the breakfast was delicious- it felt like we were staying at a family's home. The location is very central and convenient. My boyfriend and I highly recommend this place, and we are tough critics!

Unfortunately this hotel is not for me
My Ribeira Guest House is a dichotomy. Well maintained and very clean, with a very helpful and friendly staff and ownership. This property was very recently fully renovated and is very clean. The Ribeira section of Porto is a fun touristy area with lots to see, all within walking distance. It suffers from several issues which would cause me never to return. 1. Noise level just outside the building is intense. It is located directly outside the main tunnel entering Porto from the bridge. Lots of traffic and noise into the early AM hours. 2. Tiny rooms with no closet or shelves to put your clothes. So if you are planning to stay in Porto for a few days, you live out of your open suitcase on the floor. 3. Bathroom while reasonably well designed is tiny, again with no shelves to put anything. The shower is 24 inches square. 4. No elevator, we were 4 flights up (room 7) with each flight having 18 steps. I am in good shape, but it was difficult getting our luggage into the room. And after a full day of exploring, those 72 steps were additionally tiring. 5. A/C did not work, and it was warm, with no fan in the room, so we had to keep the windows open to allow to some air, which made the noise level even worse.
