Great for overnight in NYC

Modern but Minimal
Room was on the smaller side, but nice and clean. Sink outside the bathroom was a little strange. Did not have the channel for Yankees game which was a negative. Also had to have staff change feather pillow despite leaving note with reservation. (Feather allergy)

Exceptional 10.0
Great stay at The Public. Super stylish and lots of free goodies. Had multiple very positive and helpful conversations with hotel staff. The hotel’s amenities are a huge plus here with lots of spaces other than the room to enjoy, including a rooftop with panoramic views of New York, two clubs, two restaurants, multiple bars, cafe, chill areas, gym, etc. Our room had a great view though this costs a bit extra. The room is small but pretty standard for New York. They make the most of the space though and if your goal is to see New York vs hang in your room you won’t notice. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked very well as far as flow and temp control. The only gripe we had with the room layout is the sink and mirror being “in the room” vs behind a door as is the case in a traditional bathroom. This is a design element of all rooms and obviously in part, setup this way for space. My wife likes privacy when she gets ready and this was not possible here. The neighborhood is average as far as safety and cleanliness for lower Manhattan. We had no issue but some might prefer cleaner. It’s the lower east side. The proximity to SOHO and little Italy, east and west village and overall centrality to Manhattan in general is the benefit. Overall we loved our stay. A note of warning that the hotel is a bit of a hot spot for young New Yorkers. I’d guess most guests will find this to be a positive but if you want a quiet low key spot this might not be for you. If not, enjoy

Good 6.0
Hotel is definitely "cool" but the Double Room is awful, basically two twin mattresses tossed on a king platform. Pretty tough for $475/night...Would rather just get two queens at a newer Hilton/Marriot and come to PUBLIC to spend some time at the bar.
