The Mermaid Inn, Rye
Very comfy room.
Beautiful old inn, located in a quaint little village. Parking could be scarce. If you drive...make sure you get a compact car! Roads leading to the inn are very warned! :-)

Step back in time at The Mermaid Inn
What an interesting inn located in the heart of the old town of Rye, seeped in stories of the smugglers and dating back to the 1100's From the moment you enter you are surrounded by memories of the past, the comfortable and inviting areas on the ground floor from the bar with the largest fireplace I have seen with the inviting fire welcoming guests. All the guest rooms are different and we stayed in room 25 in a comfortable 4 poster bed. Our dinner in the bar and our breakfast was excellent. The chef uses all local produce too. The highlight of our short stay was meeting Glenn, our breakfast waiter who offered to take us to the 12th century cellar after breakfast where we experienced the original part of Thd Mermaid Inn and heard stories of the ghosts that haunt the Inn. Glenn definitely enhanced our stay. We would highly recommend a visit to the Mermaid Inn as an memorable experience of the smuggling days.
