The William - Try it - you will LOVE it
It took me a little bit to figure out this hotel, but once I did, I was hooked. My daughter lives nearby, so I had recently stayed at another hotel and thought it was ok, but The William is really a cut above in many ways. Heads up for less ambulatory folks: it is in a turn of the century building with a fairly steep stairway outside, and no doorman to help with your bag. I soldiered on, though, and it was soooooo worth it. The lobby is really unique in that there isn't a big reception desk, but you view a gorgeous speakeasy type cocktail lounge in a front parlor and wonder if you have somehow stepped back in a time. Further into the lobby is the small alcove with a lovely fellow waiting to easily check me into my room. The tiny elevator hidden behind a curtain nearby takes you to a bright white hallway with amazing art and room numbers in the floor and not on the door. I found my room and once in put my keycard into a power switch to allow the room's electric to function. Great green feature. The floors are high gloss white paint, so cool looking and cool to the feet, but they offer flip flops and a warm robe to counteract. Quietest room A/C EVER. Great bed with fab linens and all down pillows. Coffee bar, refrigerator, free bottled water, well appointed bathroom with L'Occitane, Apple TV, music player, security safe, black out curtains that really work, and SUPER clean. Great mid-town location. Will definitely stay here again.

Amazing experience at The William
An amazing NYC weekend at The William, an elegant boutique hotel that cleverly mixes traditional and modern design!! We loved our room and the Raines Law Bar was an added bonus for us! Magically quiet location that is still close to everything we wanted to do (Morgan Library, Hudson Yards, Broadway and Lincoln Center). We will definitely be back!!!

Misguided by employee
It was a friends birthday and a group of us were staying. One of the reservations was for 2 double beds but when we arrived we were told that that room type wasn't available. Since we were staying a few nights, the agent at the hotel recommended that we change the reservation and had even given me the email for the operations manager, just in case he needed to be contacted. Unfortunately, when I made the call to make the change, I was told that the reservation could not be changed and that it was reported as a no-show. That was clearly not the case and was advised to call back on Monday to speak with a manager. Needless to say, the manager stated that they were going to stick to their strict policy and could not honor the change. Had I known, I would have taken the smaller room in lieu of losing out on $300. I find it quite unfair that the hotel gets to keep my money and quite possibly rented the room to another customer. I will never stay here again.

Excellent hotel
Excellent hotel. Very comfortable and luxurious. Great quiet neighborhood. The Shakespeare Bar next door is also an excellent spot! Would highly recommend.
