Dovecote House, York
Not what we expected.
The room details did not align with the description in our receipt from, which included, among other things, refrigerator, private bathroom, shower, free toiletries, hair dryer, ironing board and phone. None of these was in the room, which had no windows or ventilation and was overheated by a radiator. Used tea tray and breakfast tray were not retrieved during the day. Two large dogs kept us awake with their barking. Door of the B&B was found wide open upon our return the second evening. Proprietor failed to respond to repeated calls for assistance and left the B&B unattended for long periods, coming in inebriated 10 pm the second night.

We had a wonderful stay! Matt was so friendly, welcoming, helpful, easy-going, and accommodating. The room was relaxing, the bed was super comfy, and the freshly baked croissants for breakfast were amazing.. it was a perfect weekend getaway and we hope to return.

Friendly, clean b&b, walking distance of york
Greeted on arrival by friendly owner and shown to room. Clean and spacious room with tea and coffee making facilities. Comfy beds. Breakfast brought to your room at a time you asked for it. Easy check in and out. Quiet area, suitable for our 5 month old-no loud pubs etc nearby. About 15-20 minute walk to town centre, which was fine for us. We had an animated group in the room next to us but they weren't overly loud or too late, but the owner did tell me to speak up if I needed to ask them to be quiet. Small shared bathroom but we were only there one night so wasn't too much of a problem.
