Location. Location. Location Rooms are nice but very very small. Especially the bathroom, if you are a tall American or European, good luck with toilet, it’s built for short regular Peruvians.

Better bang for your buck out there
We really loved Arequipa, especially the white stone buildings, restaurant hopping and rooftop patios.
At Casa Consuelo unfortunately the staff did not speak English. This was true with all three staff that we spoke to. Suffice to say do not expect any additional help or comfort from the staff beyond check in if you do not speak Spanish. We took the Colca Canyon trek for 2 days with all of our luggage which made the trek extremely difficult. Every other member in our group had smaller day packs and their hotels offered to store their luggage while on the trek.
The rate was reasonable and the room was clean enough. Our unit faced the street so there was constant car horns honking until late at night and starting at about 3AM.
We were also right below the kitchen for the complimentary breakfast so there was non-stop noise starting at 6am.
The 24 hour staff have a bed in what should be the lobby and we had to wait for taxis on the second floor.

Not secure. Staff went through luggage
Stayed here for a few days due to no other alternatives. Location is good and room is small but relatively clean with comfy bed. Everything was ok until the last night when I went out for dinner just before 7pm. Remembered I forgot something and went back 10 minutes later and had a strange situation. After just leaving the key with the front desk 10 minutes earlier, they didn't have my key for some reason which I found really suspicious. The lady at front desk called her co-worker who then came down in the elevator with a different key to a different room. I asked why it wasn't there and they had no clue and I was let into my room with their emergency key. The regular key was delivered to the room 5 minutes later. I noticed my luggage had been moved around and looked like it had been gone through. Really threw the security factor out the window and I don't recommend staying here unless it's a last resort. I found it really disappointing that the staff would go through people's luggage and when I brought it up to the other employee in the morning she said maybe they were checking to make sure there was towels and soap in the room. Do yourself a favour and stay in a private room in a hostal or other hotel. I was really lucky not to have any of my valuables stolen because I always lock my main suitcase.

Secure and pleasant
Walking distance to visit museums, cathedrals and plazas. In a safe area with the tourist police department around the corner. Breafast is served on their elegant rooftop having gorgeous views of the volcanoes.
