I enjoyed the unique experience Madewood Plantation Mansion offers. We were the only ones staying at the property and being able to tour the mansion prior to dinner served to us by Angie the manager in the once ballroom now dining room was the highlight of my trip to LA. The grounds and history are also a special treat. The period furnishings in the home are beautiful and paintings et al stunning. With that said our stay in the Honeymoon suite in the carriage home lacked basic amenities. A few very simple additions /upgrades would have made this a 5 star experience. All the bedding needs to be updated including the mattress and box spring. Not just cleaned but replaced. The cushions in the patio of the suite are very old and dirty. Towels et all all need updated. This suite also needs a complete remodle but had we had clean , comfortable linens and cushions the need for remodle would have been seen and a part of the charm of the experience. All in all a special experience I will remember fondly.

Madewood is a diamond in the rough. Tucked away by the trees and quiet location is the monument to the integrity to days gone by. While they are going thru some badly needed renovation it still is my favorite place to stay. Would have liked it to be a wine and cheese pre-dinner but instead it was tea. Personal choice of mine to have the wine. Angie is great with the guest making sure every need is met. Dinner and breakfast is divine. Please make a stop here and tell them Susan sent you.

My first time at a plantation.
The plantation was beautiful. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. The food was delicious. We had a great stay, and it was decorated the way I envisioned it would be in the 1800's. It was my birthday and what a great way to spend it!

A grand old mansion
A beautiful plantation property sadly in need of tlc. Our stay was made memorable by the charming reception we received from Angie, who is a great hostess and good company. Our room, the master suite, was not that great, however, with a tiny closet and shower— the penalty for having been updated many years ago and now in desperate need of makeover. Madewood is a museum piece straight out of Gone With The Wind, complete with original fixtures and furnishings.

Wonderful old plantation house with character
We were travelling with a party of 4 and were the only guests that evening. However we had a wonderful time with the whole house to ourselves. The staff were very helpful and obliging and we had a lovely candlelit dinner and a very relaxed evening.
