Full service and comfort, accommodated vegan food
A superb full service ryokan, our room (Japanese style superior) was massive with a separate area to sit under a kotatsu. They even accommodated my vegan diet with a completely customized kaiseki !

Beautiful interiors and the baths were immaculate and integrated into the natural environment. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were artful and well executed. Some challenge with English speaking but they use translation devices when necessary.

This is the best choice for ryokan and onsen! The property is well maintained and clean with an authentic Japanese style. The best part was the services. The staffs’ services and courtesy were beyond great. Our room server Megumi was so sweet, friendly and helpful. If you decided to enjoy Hakone, this is the best stay!!!

10/10 Exceptional

We got the Japanese Style Standard Room with 5 Single Futons, With Open Air Bath and Kaiseki (Dinner & Breakfast). Service: Excellent View: Can’t see Mt Fuji, but you can take a 20 minute bus ride from Jakotsuno Bus Stop to Mato Hakone Lake Ashi to see it. From the rooms, you can get a breathtaking view of some local mountains and the surrounding neighbourhood. Meals: It was an incredible and truly one of a kind experience. Served on the dot, with english menu course descriptions. Facilities: Book a 30 minute private onsen session at the reception. Must try.

6/10 Good

I would pay more and go somewhere else
The property showed a bit of age, which cannot be told by the pictures. We booked this because of the good review but it is rather disappointing. There’s a strange smell in our room, which I guess is a combination of food and age ... because there’s no bed but futon bed so you actually sleep and eat in the living room area. Since, there’s no restaurant so they only serve your meal in your room. You need to choose the time of your meal and be punctual half and hour earlier to get out of bed so that they can make your bed. For a price like this, it has been a pain in your ass as a foreigner. Their service is rather rigid, though there’s a free pick up service, they only offer from Miyanoshita to their hotel. However, the train service was suspended due to maintenance during our stay so instead of train we have to take bus and the hotel would still be able to pick us up from the bus station. The problem is we do not have local phone access, we have to search for a place to make a call. It would be easier to find a place to make a call to them from the train station than just a bus stop in the middle of no where! On the day we left the hotel, it has heavy rain, so we ask if the free shuttle will just drop us off at the Miyanoshita bus stop? The answer is yes! We finally called a taxi but it has been quite a joke, the staffs English is poor too and it’s very difficult to communicate till we finally gave up. Old building, outdated services. One positive is the food is ok.
