Parents or a legal guardian traveling with children under 18 years must present the child's birth certificate and an identity card with photo (passport, for example) at the check-in. For international travels from Brazil, if just one of the parents is traveling with the child, she/he must present – in addition to the child's certificate of birth and identity card with photo – a letter authorizing the trip signed by the other parent with a notarial certification of signature. In case the parents or the legal guardian, as applicable, cannot or are unwilling to give this authorization, a judicial authorization is required. People who intend to travel to Brazil with children must consult with the Brazilian consulate before traveling for more information.

How to feel welcome in Rio !!!
Absolutely brilliant and huge buffet breakfast . The swimming pool on the top of the hotel has a large view of Tijuca . The staff of the hotel is helpful, always smiling and ready to help...

Great and beautiful hotel
It is a great and beautiful hotel, staff is friendly, breakfast is awesome, we got free early check in and check out. We also got a free upgrade. I just thought that the window could be bigger. Apparently just a few rooms have this small window.

Excellent hotel in great Barra da Tijuca location
I spent 7 nights at the Windsor Marapendi and found it to be a real 5 star hotel in every sense of the rating. Most 4 and 5 star hotels in Brazil would rate 2 or 3 stars in the USA but the Windsor Marapendi is an exception, starting with their spectacular lobby decorated in granite and marble. All of the hotel staff with whom I interacted were professional and courteous without being overbearing. There is a constant presence of security both inside and outside the hotel. I think that most American visitors will feel very safe at this hotel and in fact should feel quite safe in the surrounding area, at least during the day and early evening. I don't recommend wandering around anywhere in Rio at night on foot, especially if you are American (aka Gringo targets) there. The hotel is right across the street from one of the nicer and CLEANER beaches in Rio. The breakfast buffet is served from 6am until 10am taking care of the early and late risers. Food quality and variety is excellent and the wait staff is very attentive. For anyone looking for a safe and pleasant shopping experience along with plenty of restaurant options the Barra Shopping center is only a 10 minute ride away. I cannot finish without mentioning something truly special about the Windsor Marapendi. They have what have to be some of the fastest elevators in the hotel world. The pool and bar area on the roof are nice with a great view.

Return visit to the Windsor Marapendi
Even though the nightly rate increased by over 60% from the last time I stayed at the Windsor Marapendi I decided to spend another night at this great hotel. It is still a good value for the money in the Barra area. I found the experience to be almost as good as the last time except this time I had a bathtub/shower combination in the room instead of a walk in shower. I don't like or use a tub and would prefer a walk in shower in a hotel. Unfortunately I did not ask at check in so I think I received the cheapest room available because of the booking. This happens often in Brazil. There is definitely a bias against internet booking at most major hotel chains in Brazil and one must ask at the desk if you don't want to be put in the worst room available.
