Very Good8.0
The food!
Check in was a bit chaotic as the lady in charge--it is more a pub with attached rooms than a hotel with a pub, had difficulty hearing me over the din. Nevertheless all went well. The room was huge, a sitting room and a bathroom almost as large as my bedroom with a great big bathtub. It is located all by itself in a rural area of rural Shropshire very close to the Welsh border, about 9 miles from Welshpool in a delightful area filled with hedgerows, narrow lanes and surprisingly hilly countryside. There is nothing else there except the inn on the side of the road, Internet was fast. After the pub crowd left it was surprisingly empty. I had a Wellington pie with cheese, mushrooms and leek. It was amazing! According to the server their food is locally sourced. The chef must have trained at some academy because everything was perfect, I don't know how he was able to have the leek fully cooked inside the pie without it getting soggy, same goes for the mushrooms, crunchy with bite. The outer layer was flaky, the inside was gooey oozing goodness! It was large enough for at least two people! I had an appetizer prawn with green beans, the prawns as the green beans were perfectly cooked not overcooked. The following day I had the included breakfast which if I had everything I was entitled to have would have given me a coronary. It was excellent. Although the Inn itself was nice enough, I would stay just to work down the menu! The locals know they have a gem.

Wow! What a breakfast!
Love this place, so peaceful and the pub / restaurant below is great, food amazing...rooms could be a little more homely, relatively basic, but fine really for the money and a short business trip in the area, this is my first choice, but wifi would be useful as there is little or no phone signal...mainly because of the amazing food!

Amazing experience from start to finish the food was out of this world 🌍 only problem for me was the WiFi wasn’t 100%

Wonderful Hotel!
This is a wonderful place to stay! The staff are all so friendly and welcoming. The food is fantastic. The breakfast is huge and cooked fresh with a good choice. All their food is locally sourced and they make their jam, marmalade and tomato sauce. I had a steak which was perfection but didn't come with onion rings. I queried that and the chef cooked me a large bowl of homemade ones for free! There are four rooms and they are all en suite. The bed was so comfortable with bouncy pillows and lovely warm duvet. We couldn't find any fault with this place and would recommend a visit.
