Pretty good for the cost
This is a decent, reasonably friendly place for a good price. The restaurant is convenient and popular and service is pretty good.

Traditional-style lodge in lovely village
The lodge was traditional in style, with mounted deer heads and birds, making for an interesting environment. Very quiet, comfortable room. The lodge restaurant has amazing food!

Cosy hotel which needs to up its breakfast game
The Braemar Lodge Hotel is a small, cosy, well-appointed hotel perfectly situated for access to the town and attractions further afield. The dining experience in the restaurant is excellent and the service generally included that all-important personal touch to make you feel like a valued guest. There's a lovely cosy snug with a toasty wood-burning stove The room was cosy and comfortable, but the bathroom had a few shortcomings - it was cold, the shower was weedy, the over-mirror light didn't work and there was a lack of places to hang wet towels. But the biggest let-down was breakfast - the service was personal and friendly, but the toast was burnt, the coffee was sub-standard, the plastic containers of jam and marmalade were poor and my poached eggs tasted of vinegar. This was all the harder to take (and to understand) in view of the excellence of the dinners and of the coffee we were served mid-afternoon. It was poor enough for us to skip breakfast for the rest of our stay. All in all, a very enjoyable and comfortable stay - a good breakfast would have made it outstanding.
