The Stones Hotel, Salisbury
Very Good8.0
Convenient place to stay when visiting the area.
The staff were all excellent, but the food left a bit to be desired. The meat that I ordered on two occasions, the lamb for one meal and the ribs for the other, was very tough with a lot of gristle. While everything else was good and the location is excellent for Stonehenge and for Old Sarum Castle, I would recommend not eating there.

A stone's throw away but worth it!
Very friendly staff, especially in the bar/restaurant. Good food reasonably priced. Free bottles of water in room. Very pleased. Excellent value.

Great atmosphere, pleasant room, helpful staff.
This hotel was voted the best place we stayed on our family trip. The room was a basic room and great for its price. It was clean and pleasant and quiet. We needed to rise early to go to Stonehenge (5am), and we all slept well. The concierge was also very helpful and helped me print out access papers. Thank you for a great stay. (Also, we did not have time to try the restaurant, so I cannot speak for the food, but the atmosphere was very relaxing with large open windows along its length and the staff was friendly and helpful (I needed ice for my medication cooler)).

Nice stopover.
Great for stay outside of Salisbury. Dining service and food was very good. The location is on the roadway to Stonehenge and is located a bit outside of Salisbury. It was just what we wanted as the next day we were driving to St Ives and wanted an enjoyable and pleasant stopover. This was perfect for that.

Very bad shower
The only issue I had was the shower was unbearably hot , and myself and my girlfriend just could not figure out how to get it to a comfortable temperature. Made a complaint to staff, which had maintenance look at it but didn’t really fix it. It didn’t seem like a high priority for the hotel to get this one right , it seemed like it bounced around different members of staff . As a customer I just wanted it fixed. They allowed us to us a different room on the last day but even that shower had problems . I just felt no one really took control of the problem , and left me feeling as if it was my fault. Also I think a bit more attention to detail on the cleaning , such as the bathroom window ledge and behind the sink .
